It is intended for drymix mortar manufacturers in Malaysia and by invitation only (non-members will also be invited, if you feel you should qualify to attend and did not get an invitation, please contact us).

INTRODUCTION

Sales and Service Tax (SST) was implemented in Malaysia on 1. September 2018 and manufacturers, importers, exporters, traders and service providers need to possess the necessary knowledge to understand the fundamental SST principles. Thereafter, it is important for businesses to apply the correct SST treatment in order to submit the correct returns and pay the correct amount of tax required.

Lately, even businesses who are NOT registered with SST may also need to comply with the rules and regulations, e.g. a vendor (agent) who purchases materials on behalf of a registered manufacturer will need to apply for Schedule C item 3 from customs in order to get exemptions from sales tax. Furthermore, customs is now carrying out sales tax audits to ensure good compliance by the sales tax registrants.

Since its formal founding in 2018, PPM has discussed the SST issue for our industry in depth with its members and external advisers. This initiative was interrupted by the CoVid pandemic and it is time to carry on now.

OBJECTIVE:

As the SST has been implemented since the year 2018, it is essential to start preparing for the customs department’s sales tax audit. This program aims to prepare the sales tax registrants to mitigate errors and prepare for a customs audit in the near future.
