1. We Lock Down our Office but our Mind Stays Open

Dear Friends and Supporters, in anticipation of more severe lock-down instructions by the German Government, effective since 7. December 2020, we run the office only in a reduced mode (apologies if we became somewhat slower in responding), since this week, we have closed the office altogether, at least until 10. January 2021.

However, we will continue our information and other services as you are used to. Except one thing: we can not answer the phone any more - but our minds and e-mails remain attentive and open.

This was a hard year for drymix.info, since so many events and occasions to meet you in person had to be cancelled (I counted 9), our two successful MORTAR CONVENTIONS were fun and very much appreciated alla round the world. But Live Events Online altogether are not a suitable one-to-one replacement for physical events. I personally miss you.

We sincerely hope that you and your families are ok, and will get through winter without any problems. We want to wish you, your family, friends and colleagues a Happy New Year.

Gabriele Hartenberger, Ferdinand Leopolder

2. Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2021 - Deadline for Submissions Changed to 27. January 2021

As most of you know, we are currently producing the Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2021 DMYB2021), which will feature scientific articles about drymix mortar technology and 3D printing of mortars, as well as technical advertorials from our supporters. Since our office is closed until (min.) 10. January 2021, we extend the deadline for submission of articles to 26. January 2021. So here is your chance to still publish in our next DMYB2021, please contact us immediately.

The book will be printed in February and sent by regular post to recipients worldwide, including the delegates to 5th MORTAR CONVENTION. DMYB 2021 will also be distributed during our upcoming physical events, the 4th Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting in México City on 12. July 2021 (Anafapyt, Latin American Coatings Show) and at the 8th International Drymix Mortar Conference idmmc8 on 13. September 2021 in Nürnberg, Germany (right before European Coatings Show). Both events will be moved if the referenced shows are being postponed.

Please note, that the 2021 issue of the Drymix Mortar Yearbook has a significantly higher relevance and importance than in „normal“ times: a multitude of events for our industry  - not only organized by drymix.info, MEDMA or SEADMA - have been cancelled due to the current pandemic situation. So our Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2021 is the only means of physical interaction for our industry at this point in time until (estimated) mid-year.

3. 5th MORTAR CONVENTION on 23. March 2021: Three Segments for All Time Zones

On 23. March 2021, the 5th MORTAR CONVENTION takes place as Live Event Online. Many lectures have already been proposed, our Call for Paper ends on 31. December 2020. The event will also feature our Industry Showcase, which was well frequented in October. The event will take place in the three almost identical segments EAST, Central and WEST, to accommodate the time zones. Each segment will feature a different panel discussion (you liked the one with Gülden, Roger and Stefano a lot in October). drymix.info is accepting proposals for discussion topics as well as volunteers to take part in one of the panels. The general program will be announced in our next Newsletter.

Attendance to the 5th MORTAR CONVENTION is limited to 500 delegates per segment, admission is 120 Euro per person, reduced for drymix.info, MEDMA and SEADMA partners to 80 Euro. Drymix mortar manufacturers pay only 40 Euro. Please support your drymix mortar community by registering immediately at www.drymix.info using your credit card (Visa or Master accepted). Individual invoicing for bank-to-bank transfer is not possible, sorry.

4. New Rotary Furnace for Poraver Schlüsselfeld

Dennert Poraver GmbH, Schlüsselfeld, Germany is currently building an entirely new manufacturing location on a plot measuring 55.000 square meters in Schlüsselfeld. There is enough space to install 7 production lines. Recently, the new indirectly heated rotary furnace for the first line has been delivered and is being installed as we speak. The furnace itself is 20 m long and over 5 m high. Commissioning of the new location and production line is expected for mid-2021. From then on, Poraver will have a capacity of 360.000 cubic meters of expanded glass spheres from its plants in Postbauer-Heng, Germany, Innisfil, Canada and Schlüsselfeld.

5. Stone+tec 2021, Nürnberg, Germany, Cancelled

Messe Nürnberg GmbH, Germany, has decided to cancel 2021 Stone+Tec, International Trade Fair for Natural Stone and Stone Technology. According to the organizers, a sincere concept for hygiene and distancing was in place, but the current development in applications for exhibition space and the fact that international (air) travel has not resumed yet led to this decision.

6. ACHEMA Re-scheduled into 2022

ACHEMA 2021, the fair for the chemical processing industry in Frankfurt, Germany, will be postponed to 4. to 8 April 2022. DECHEMA Ausstellungs-GmbH, Frankfurt, the organizers of this event took this decision  after intensive discussions with the community and internal committees in view of the continuing uncertainty caused by the Corona pandemic. "As things stand at present, (...) we have to assume that travel will not yet be unrestricted at that time", explains Dr.-Ing. Thomas Scheuring, CEO of DECHEMA.

7. 21. Ibausil Moved into 2023

Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, F. A. Finger Institute for the Science of Construction Materials, Weimar, Germany, the organizers of Ibausil, have recently decided to postpone their 21. Ibausil (initially planned for 2021) by two years to 12. to 15. September 2023. According to the organizers, international exchange is a key prerequisite for the event, and this could not be expected from the old date in September 2021.
