1. SEADMA-AGM on 11. Nov. 2014 in Singapore: Elections, Inclusion of PhilDMA

The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA holds its Annual General Members Assembly during the 9th Annual SEADMA Conference at Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore on 11. Nov. 2014. This years SEADMA AGM will focus upon the following topics
a) the new Philippine Drymix Mortar Association: discussion on the inclusion of such initiatives within SEADMA  - expectations from The Philippines and from other regions that may form such an association or a local chapter of SEADMA
b) Nomination of Drymix Ambassadors for most Nations within SEADMA: proposals include Terence Yong for Malaysia, Pairat Pipattanaboon for Thailand, Nurlijan Noerjanto for Indonesia and Hongfang Chen for Singapore
c) pricing structure for membership with SEADMA: open discussion about membership fees and appropriate pricing, also for companies operating several subsidiaries in the region
d) elections to the Executive Committee: SEADMA welcomes any proposal especially from The Philippines. A candidate (or her/his company) must be a member of SEADMA, this is the only nomination criterium. Ferdinand Leopolder, Secretary General of SEADMA has decided to run for President and asks the General Members Assembly for support.

Please register now to meet us at the 9th Annual SEADMA Conference, Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore: Regular admission is 195 € (S$ 320), reduced to 165 € (S$ 270) for members of drymix.info or SEADMA. 2. 2nd Australia Drymix Mortar Meeting, Yarra Valley, VIC, 13. and 14. Nov. 2014

drymix.info invites all mortar experts from down under and beyond to Yarra Valley Conference Center which offers beautiful rooms for delegates arriving already on Thursday, 13. November 2014 (only two left, though!). A Delegate Welcome takes place in the evening of 13. November to get to know each other already, it is sponsored by Wacker Chemie (thanks a lot!). We will arrange for an improvised local wine-tasting - one more reason to come early!

On 14. November, the The 2nd Australia Drymix Mortar Meeting will take place with lectures by (in alphabetical order, programm available on www.drymix.info): Ardex, CT Australia, drymix.info, Kerneos, Rockcote, Sofraden, Wacker and WAM. The meeting and the adjoining industry showcase is intended as networking platform for the delegates to meet and talk and maybe kick-off new business. Online registration is available at drymix.info (Visa or Mastercard required). Regular Admission is 210 € (300 AU$), reduced admission for members of drymix.info is 180 € (260 AU$), special admission for drymix mortar manufacturers is only 110 € (160 AU$).

3. MEDMA AGM on 16.11.2014, Dubai: Elections and Regional Topics

The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA e.V. holds its Annual General Members Assembly traditionally at Al Badia Golf Club, Dubai, UAE (near Dubai Festival City). The AGM takes place on 16.11.2014, 18:00. This years MEDMA AGM will focus upon the following topics
a) the new Iran Mortar Association (IMA): IMA was founded in 2014 and has asked for membership within MEDMA, we will conduct a discussion on the inclusion of such initiatives, also for the Saudi Drymix Mortar Association. MEDMA acts as umbrella organisation for National associations
b) Members Bonus and acceptance of The Middle East Competence Center for the Testing of Drymix Mortars at Dubai Central Laboratories
c) by-elections to the Executive Committee: the EC currently consists of Mohammed Sanaobar (President and Technical Chairman), Roland Jansen (Vice President), Ammar Ali (Treasurer), Ferdinand Leopolder (Secretary General) and Ahmed El Bayaa. Hisham El Seoud (of Colmef) and Jovan Sarenac (of Henkel Polybit) have expressed interest to join the EC and ask the members for their support. MEDMA welcomes the nomination of any additional candidates. A candidate (or her/his company) must only be a member of MEDMA, this is the only nomination criterium.

4. MEDMA Workshop on and during Big 5, 17.11.2014, Please Register

In cooperation with The Big 5, MEDMA is offering a CPD-certified workshop on drymix mortar technology and standards on Monday, 17. November 2014, from 10:00 until 13:30. The workshop takes place in two sessions, one is titled "Conrete Repair & Protection, Fireproofing and Renovation", the other "Drymix Mortar Formulation and Recent Advancements". The conference venue remains to be determined, follow the signage at the Main Concourse. Lectures are presented by Gypsemna, Caparol, MEDMA, Haver&Boecker, drymix.info and Sofraden. Admission is free of charge, advance registration is mandatory by e-mail to us. Additional registration to Big 5 is also required (and makes sense to do beforehand anyway), see: www.thebig5.ae.

5. Casual drymix.info Evening during BAU 2015, 21. January 2015

Mortar Masters Meet in Munich: the casual drymix.info Evening during BAU takes place again on 21. January 2015, from 19:00 at Hofbräukeller, Munich, Wiener Platz. This event has become a traditional vanishing point for tired showgoers on "BAU-Wednesday". After a hard day at the fair there is time to chat, have dinner with friends and just have a good time. So far, Wacker-Chemie and Calucem have agreed to sponsor us (thanks a lot). Sponsoring is still welcome, for details please directly inquire at info@drymix.info.

Although the meeting is free of charge, registration is absolutely mandatory since seating is limited. Just send us an e-mail.

6. The Philippine Drymix Mortar Association Founded

On 1. July 2014, the day of the First Philippine Drymix Mortar Meeting, organized by The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA, Philippine drymix mortar experts met to discuss necessary standardization (mainly for cementitious tile adhesives CTA). In this informal meeting, the idea of forming an association of quality minded manufacturers of drymix mortars came up.

From August onwards, the industry met on an almost monthly basis and in the meantime, 16 quality minded drymix mortar manufacturers have founded The Philippine Drymix Mortar Association (PhilDMA). The process to register this new association is under way and the officers (Executive Committee of PhilDMA) have already been determined: Axel Brandner of ABC leads the Association as Founding President, Derick Tan of Magna Prime is Vice-President, Treasurer is Eli Campilla of Grand Aces and Mavee Villanueva (Betonit) acts as Secretary. SEADMA, as the umbrella organisation of mortar associations in ASEAN has already invited PhilDMA to join. A sizeable delegation of PhilDMA is expected for the 9th Annual SEADMA Conference in Singapore, 11. November 2014 (see above).

7. Wacker Raises Prices for Redispersible Powders in Europe

Wacker Polymers, based in Munich, Germany has anounced a price increase for its redispersible powders (tradename: Vinnapas) in Europe. Effective 1. January 2015, or as customer contracts allow, prices will be raised by up to 0,10 Euro per kilogramme. As principal reasons for this measure Wacker quotes the increase in raw material and distribution costs.

8. JSW Cement Plans to almost Double its Cement Capacities in India

JSW Cement, headquartered in Mumbai, India, has decided to set up a 4,3 mio ton cement plant in Gulbarga, Karnataka. The region around Gulbarga boasts with rich limestone deposits and is close to the Hyderabad metropolitan area in Central Southern India. The Indian cement market is booming since about 2 years, there is actually a tight situation for clinker and exports of cements can no longer be seen. S.S. Sandhu, Associate Vice-President of JSW Cement, Secunderabad expects a pick-up in demand due to the launch of a large number of construction projects. JSW Cement operates one plant in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, with 4,8 mio ton capacity and a smaller plant with 0,6 mio ton capacity in Bellary, Karnataka. The company has recently taken over a 1,0 mio ton plant in Dolvi in Maharashtra.

9. Announcing: The Asia Summit on Industrial Manufacturing and Application of Drymix Mortars, New Delhi, India, 24. March 2015

Drymix.info, Munich, Germany, is announcing The Asia Summit on Industrial Manufacturing and Application of Drymix Mortars to take place on 24. March 2015 at The Leela Palace Hotel New Delhi, India. The summit is intended to provide a platform for the production equipment industry, from raw materials (sand) mining and processing, complete plant design, packaging, palletizing and downstream logistics (silos and jobsite machinery) to meet with raw materials and drymix mortar manufacturers from throughout Asia. This pre-announcement is intended as Call for Papers to the machinery and drymix mortar industries to submit papers and workshop proposals by 12. December 2014. Dr. Sumon Chakravarty, President of the Building Material Division of International Combustion (India) Limited has agreed to act as the Technical Chairman. Sponsoring of course is welcome, please enquire with us, also for further details on the summit.
