2. Second Egypt Drymix Mortar Meeting, 21. May 2026, Cairo: Call for Papers Extended to 31MAR26

On 21. May 2026 drymix mortar experts from Egypt and beyond will meet in Badr City near Cairo at the brand new Badr University, drymix.info and the Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA invite to a technical exchange and networking for the second time. Again we could win the famous Ain Shams University to co-host this event in cooperation with Saxony Egypt University (Badr City). Our Technical Chairwoman is Prof. Dr. Ghada Bassioni, Prof. Dr. Johann Plank of Technische Universität München (TUM) and Dr. Yola Schmitz of drymix.info are assisting in the Technical Committee. There will be a half-day guided tour to New Administrative City, Egypt's new Capital on Friday, 22MAY26 (RSVP).

Admission is 550 Euro per person, reduced to 450 Euro p.p. for drymix.info or MEDMA partners. Drymix mortar manufacturers pay only 190 Euro p.p. Special admission deals are available for students and faculty, please inquire with us. 

3. The 2nd UK and Ireland Drymix Mortar Meeting on 8. June 2026 near Coventry: Register now!

On Monday, 8. June 2026 we are going to be at historic Coombe Abbey Hotel near Coventry, West Midlands, Great Britain. We invite you to this romantic location for our 2nd UK and Ireland Drymix Mortar Meeting - one day before Surfex 2026 in Coventry, an industry fair well worth visiting. Registration has already started, the program will be published in our next drymix.info Newsletter. Immediately after the event, on Monday evening, Blackburn Chemicals invites all those staying on to a Pub Quiz on the premises, with surprises and glorious prices (RSVP mandatory).

4. Events 2026: Johannesburg, Istanbul, New Delhi, and Bangkok

4.1. The 2nd Southern Africa Drymix Mortar Meeting, Johannesburg, 20. August 2026

For the second time, drymix mortar experts from Southern Africa meet in the Johannesburg area to discuss our technology and its standardization. drymix.info and The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA are inviting to this key event for the drymix mortar industry of Southern Africa. A major topic and the keynote speech will feature the quality level of tile adhesives and strategies to install standards and certifications for this application. The Call for Papers ends on 31. March 2026.

4.2. Istanbul, Turkey, 17. September 2026: The 9th Central and South European Drymix Mortar Conference cedmmc9

For the 9th time drymix mortar experts come together in Istanbul. There will also be a boat cruise as the last time, provided we have sponsors for this excursion. The Call for Papers just ended on 31. January 2026. Our exciting program will be published online soon and in our April drymix.info Newsletter.

4.3. New Delhi, India, 29. October 2026: The 9th India Drymix Mortar Conference

By public request and due to the dynamic evolution, both technically and in terms of volumes, drymix.info has decided to host the India Drymix Mortar Conference annually, and venture up to New Delhi. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet specialists from the region and beyond at the 9th India Drymix Mortar Conference in New Delhi. The Call for paper ends on 31. March 2026. Most sponsoring options are still available. 

4.4. Bangkok, Thailand, 19. November 2026: 19th Annual SEADMA Conference

The South East Asian Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA invites to its 19th annual conference in Bangkok on 19. November 2026. Slots for presentations and sponsoring options are still available. Our Call for Papers ends on 31. May 2026.

5. Announcing: The International Conference on Building Rehabilitation (ICB4R), Shanghai, 25. and 26 November 2026

drymix.info is proud to present The International Conference and Symposium on Building Rehabilitation, Renovation, Refurbishment and Re-Purposing (ICB4R). The event is a global forum for senior experts and researchers of the construction materials and technologies. Ageing buildings and shifting markets make it necessary to renovate existing construction built during the boom years 2000 until 2010. The need to preserve the structures and to update and renovate commercial and residential real estate is imminent, especially in China. After 15 to 20 years of service, a building's infrastructure often is in need of repair, new legal requirements demand renovation (e.g. of facades with tiles, thermal insulation), technical refurbishment (updating, modernization) is in place in many buildings. Last but not least, mainly in Europe, re-purposing of light commercial construction to residential appartments starts to play a major role.

The Technical Committee of ICB4R consists of Prof. Dr. Johann Plank, Technical University Munich (TUM; Chairman), Prof. Kong Xiangming of Tsinghua University, Prof. Dr. Andreas Gerdes, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) / Sino German Institute for Advanced Building Materials, Quingdao, Dr. Christian Kober, Ted Wang and Ferdinand Leopolder (all drymix.info). Lecturing Proposals (papers) will be accepted until 31. July 2026 (absolute Deadline). They must contain the lecturer's name and institution of company her/his CV, the lecturing topic and an abstract of the thesis. Lecturing fees apply in certain cases (please enquire with drymix.info).

Admission to ICB4R (2 days) will differ from the usual drymix.info pricing, we will inform our readers in the next newsletter.

6. Sika Opens Five New Plants Worldwide

Sika AG, Baar, Switzerland has recently opened five new plants in the US, Argentina, Colombia, Bangladesh and Tanzania. The new drymix mortar plant in Puerto Tirol (Chaco Province in Northeastern Argentina, near Paraguay), is the eighth production facility Sika operates in Argentina. In Cali, Southern Colombia, units for drymix mortars, coatings and concrete admixtures were commissioned. Similar units were started up in Narayanganj, South of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Sika's new plant in Tanzania is in Mwanza, on Lake Victoria, apart from drymix mortars and concrete admixtures, Sika also produces (cement) grinding aids and specialty products for mining there. Kenia, Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ruanda and Burundi can be reached from Mwanza. In Haines City, FL, USA, Sika has added a new facility for concrete admixtures.

7. Heidelberg Materials Acquires Construction Materials Activities of Maas/Australia

Heidelberg Materials Australia, Parramatta, Sydney, Australia, has entered into a binding agreement to acquire the construction materials business of Maas Group Holdings, Dubbo NSW, Australia. Maas’s construction materials business is based across New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria and employs over 1,000 people. The transaction includes 40 quarries with combined reserves of over 350 million tonnes of aggregates, 22 ready-mixed concrete plants, two asphalt operations, a recycling site as well as adjacent activities. The deal values Maas's construction materials activities at 1.023 mio Euro (AUD 1.700 mio) and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.
