1. 9th Annual SEADMA Conference in Singapore, 11. Nov. 2014 at Pan Pacific Hotel
The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA invites for its 9th Annual Conference to magnificient Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore. This unique event traditionally unites drymix mortar experts from throughout South East Asia and Europe in a professional and networking-oriented atmosphere. The steadily increasing drymix mortar community in South-East-Asia is happy to greet anyone connected to the industry and would particularly like to explicitly encourage smaller companies and newcomers to join this industry exclusive event. Many drymix mortar professionals from all over Asia have already registered (admissions see below).
Lectures will be presented by the following companies or institutions (in alphabetical order; programme available on our website): Avebe, Haver&Boecker, Kerneos, m-tec, Momentive, Nubiola, SE Tylose, SEADMA and Sofraden.
SEADMA also holds its Annual General Assembly then. Interesting new strategic approaches for the region will be announced and further promoted, here especially the formation of The Philippine Drymix Mortar Association and the new regional responsibilities (Country Managers) at SEADMA. The MEDMA/SEADMA Technical Bulletin 09 will be published on occasion of this conference and will be distributed to all delegates.
Regular admission is 195 € (S$ 320), reduced to 165 € (S$ 270) for members of drymix.info. Like in Istanbul, we offer a reduced admission drymix mortar producers: they pay only 110 € (S$ 180). Online registration is available at www.drymix.info (Visa or Mastercard required).
2. 2nd Australia Drymix Mortar Meeting, Yarra Valley, VIC, 13. and 14. Nov. 2014
drymix.info invites all mortar experts from down under to the 2nd Australia Drymix Mortar Meeting, taking place at beautiful Yarra Valley Conference Center (about 60 km to the North-East of Melbourne). This location offers beautiful rooms for delegates arriving on Thursday, please reserve timely with them. A Delegate Welcome takes place in the evening of 13. November to get to know each other already, sponsored by Wacker Chemie (thanks a lot!). On 14. November, the meeting will take place with lectures by (in alphabetical order, programm available on www.drymix.info): Ardex, CT Australia, drymix.info, Kerneos, Rockcote, Sofraden, Wacker and WAM. The meeting and the adjoining industry showcase is intended as networking platform for the delegates to meet and talk and maybe kick-off new business. After the meeting you are invited to head out with us to Yering Meadows Golf Club to play 9 holes for the first drymix.info Golf Trophy and relax – or maybe talk more privately about chances who opened up during the day. Non-golfers will enjoy a putting contest and the scenery (sponsoring for both extras is welcome).
3. Dubai: MEDMA General Assembly (16. Nov.) and Workshop on Big 5 (17. Nov.)
The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA e.V. invites all its members, partners and friends to its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, 16. November 2014, 19:00. Traditionally, this meeting takes place at fantastic Al Badia Golf Club, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, a nice dinner is included. The MEDMA AGM is free of charge for MEDMA members (up to two representatives for each company), all others pay 750 AED per person. Seating however is limited, so advance registration is absolutely mandatory by e-mail to info@drymix.info. JK Cement Works (Fujairah) FZC has agreed to sponsor this meeting, thank you very much.
In cooperation with The Big 5, the Middle East's undisputedly largest trade show for the construction industry, MEDMA is offering a workshop on drymix mortar technology and standards on Monday, 17. November 2014, from 10:00 until 13:30. The workshop takes place in one of the conference venues on the first level of Main Concourse (room remains tbd., follow the signage). Lectures are presented by Gypsemna, Caparol, MEDMA, Haver&Boecker, drymix.info and Sofraden (one lecturing slot about CTA is still open, please enquire with us). Admission is free of charge, advance registration is recommended by e-mail to us.
4. China Building Materials Association and drymix.info Cooperate for The China Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2015
China Building Materials Association, Ready Mix Mortar Branch, Beijing, China and drymix.info, Munich, Germany, have recently agreed to jointly publish the China Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2015. The new book is intended to present new findings in drymix mortar techonology on a global level - however in Chinese. The China Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2015 will be designed similarly to the Drymix Mortar Yearbooks and will reach all relevant drymix mortar experts in China and abroad. Ferdinand Leopolder will act as the Editor-in-Chief of the new publication. drymix.info encourages all its members and partners to submit content towards this importnant new publication by 31. 5. Arkema Makes Offer to Total for the Acquisition of Bostik
French chemical company Arkema, headquartered in Colombes, France, made a proposal for the acquisition of Bostik, based in Neuilly, France. The offer amounted to 1.740 mio Euro, which corresponds 11 times of the Bostik's EBITDA. Bostik is a subsidiary of Total SA, Paris France and reported sales amounting to 1.530 mio Euro in 2013. The company is globally active in over 40 countries and has 4.900 employees. Bostik ranks within the leading group of adhesive manufacturers active on a worldwide level. Arkema is also globally active, employs some 14,000 people and its annual turnover is reported to be 6.100 mio Euro.
6. Baukim, Turkey, Joins drymix.info as Industrial Partner
Baukim of Istanbul, Turkey has decided to join drymix.info as manufacturing partner. The company unites activities of the Veta Group Istanbul, Turkey with additional strategic investors. It has taken over the site and equipment of Veta Group near Istanbul and will build a fully automated drymix mortar plant there. Focus of Baukim will be the industrial production of both volume and specialty gypsum and cement based drymix mortars. With its industrial contacts, Baukim plans to target general contractors and follow them into the international markets, too

7. Sika Establishes Subsidiary in Sarajevo, Builds New Mortar Plant near Belgrade
Sika AG, headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, has announced the founding of a subsidiary in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegowina intended for both production and distribution. The company is also building a new plant in Simanovci, Serbia (some 20 km to the North-West of Belgrade) to where Sika relocated its operations from downtown Belgrade. Paul Schuler, leader of the region EMEA at Sika says: „The new mortar plant in Serbia and the founding of our subsidiary in Bosnia-Hercegowina will lay the base for accelerated growth for Sika on the Balkan (...) we intend to double our business volume within the next three to four years..." The mortar market in the region is expected to grow by 9% annually.
8. BASF Opens Plant for PUR and Dispersions in Gujarat, India
BASF SE of Ludwigshafen, Germany has recently inaugurated its chemical production complex in Dahej, Gujarat, India. With a project cost of approximately €150 million (INR 1,000 crore), the site represents BASF’s single largest investment in India. Apart from base chemicals such as MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) the plant is focussed on the production of polyurethane, care chemicals and polymer dispersions. The polymer dispersions plant will complement BASF’s existing production in Mangalore and is intended to serve the paper and board, architectural coatings, construction, adhesives and fiber bonding industries Northern and Western India. According to Mr. Michael Heinz, Member of the Board of Executive Directors, BASF SE (the new plant in Gujarat is) "... part of our investment plans of more than 10.000 mio Euro in Asia Pacific between 2013 and 2020....". The new BASF Dahej plant currently already employs 200 people directly and over 300 people indirectly.
9. Wacker Polymers Raises Prices for Dispersions and Redispersible Powders in The Americas
Wacker Polymers, a business unit of Wacker Chemie AG, Munich, Germany has announced a price increase for vinyl acetate-ethylene and ethylene-vinyl chloride-based copolymer dispersions and redispersible powders in the Americas (Tradenames: Vinnapas and Vinnol). Prices will go up by $0.03 per pound (0,08 Euro/kg) and a logistics surcharge amounting to $0.02 per pound (=,06 Euro/kg) will be implemented for all shipments. Apart from the higher freight and distribution cost across the entire Americas region, the increase is attributed to constantly rising raw material costs, in particular those for vinyl acetate monomer (VAM). The increase and the surcharge become effective on 1. November 2014, or as contracts allow.
