1. The Philippine Drymix Mortar Meeting, 1. July 2014

The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA and drymix.info, the International Community for Drymix Mortars are inviting to the first Philippine Drymix Mortar Meeting. The networking event takes place on 1. July 2014, 09:00 - 14:00 at F1 Hotel Manila, 32nd Street, Bonifacio Global City. This meeting unites all quality manufacturers of mortars with their suppliers and distributors. The meeting is being sponsored by Grand Aces, Sofraden and m-tec, thank you very much!

2. The Taiwan Drymix Mortar Meeting, 3. July 2014

drymix.info is inviting all drymix mortar experts to join the Taiwan Drymix Mortar Meeting. The meeting takes place on 3. July 2014, 09:00 until 14:00 at Sheraton Grande Taipei Hotel. The Taiwan Drymix Mortar Meeting unites manufacturers of quality drymix mortars with their suppliers and distributors. The Taiwan Drymix Mortar Meeting is arranged in cooperation with The Taiwan Concrete Institute (TCI), sponsors are Wacker Chemie, Sofraden and Siam Modified Starch, thanks a lot!

3. Events of drymix.info and Partners

3.1. cedmmc four, Istanbul, Turkey: Delegate Welcome Between Two Continents

The Fourth Central and South European Drymix Mortar Conference and Industry Showcase cedmmc four takes place on 11. September 2014 at Çırağan Palace Kempinski Hotel, Istanbul, Turkey. The full-day event features distinguished speakers who will focus on recent developments in the drymix mortar industry as well as ample networking time. Experts in the field of drymix mortars from around the world will be present, ensuring a highly diverse audience. The Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2014 is published on occasion of this event. Online registration is now possible at www.drymix.info (Visa or Mastercard required).

Between Two Continents: the Delegate Welcome for cedmmc four promises to become a memorable experience: we will take a dinner cruise on the Bosphorus, enjoy the night between Europe and Asia. The cruise takes place on 10. September 2014, we meet at 19:00 at the jetty near the Beşiktaş Stadium. Sponsor so far is Wacker Chemie, additional sponsoring is needed and encouraged. The cruise is included in the admission, but seating is limited and thus advance registration by e-mail to info@drymix.info is absolutely mandatory.

3.2. 9th Annual SEADMA Conference in Singapore, 11. November 2014

The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA invites to its 9th Annual  Conference in Singapore. The event takes place on 11. November 2014 at Parkroyal Hotel on Pickering, a splendid new eco-design hotel in downtown Singapore (near Boat Quay). The technical conference traditionally unites drymix mortar experts from South East Asia in a professional and networking-oriented atmosphere. A Call for Papers has recently been published for submission of lecturing proposals for SEADMA's 9th Annual Conference, it expires on 30. June 2014 (available on www.drymix.info or from us directly). Lecturing slots are limited, since we also have the SEAMA Annual General Meeting during this event, so we ask all contributors for timely submissions. The same of course applies for The MEDMA/SEADMA Technical Bulletin 09, approved articles for publication have to be turned in to drymix.info by 31. July 2014.

3.3. Second Australia Drymix Mortar Meeting in the Yarra Valley (New Location!) on 14. November 2014

Building on the success of our meeting at Manly Beach, Sydney in 2012, drymix.info is again inviting drymix mortar experts from Australia, New Zealand and beyond to the Second Australia Drymix Mortar Meeting on 14. November 2014. Our destination will be the wine country: Yarra Valley (location tbd.). A Call for Papers has recently been published for submission of lecturing proposals, it expires on 30. June 2014 (available on www.drymix.info or from us directly). A meeting such as this one is not possible without the support of sponsors, please contact us for the details.

4. Wacker Expands Redispersible Powder Capacity in Burghausen

Wacker Chemie AG, headquartered in Munich, Germany is currently building a new spray tower at its Burghausen (Germany) plant, the new tower will have a production capacity of 50.000 t per year, and thus is one of the largest ever built for this application. The overall investment is 20 mio Euro. Wacker expects completion of this project within the first quarter of 2015. Quoting Arno von der Eltz, President of Wacker Polymers: “Worldwide, demand for high-quality dispersible polymer powders is rising particularly in residential construction and infrastructure measures (... therefore) we started to extend (...) production at our Nanjing site at the end of last year and now want to push ahead with expanding our capacities in Burghausen, too."

5. Uzin Lays Cornerstone for New Plant in Delaware, USA

Uzin Utz Manufacturing North America based in Dover, Delaware, USA, a subsidiary of Uzin Utz AG, Ulm, Germany recently celebrated the laying of the cornerstone (ground breaking ceremony) for the first dry mix mortar plant of Uzin in the US. The overall investment sum is 7,5 Mio €. Completion of the project is expected in April 2015. The plant will be specialized on the production of self-levelling underlayments. A research and development center as well as a training facility for applicators is also included in the investment. The plant has 25.000 tons annual capacity and will employ 20 people.

6. Lafarge Sells Cement Activities in Ecuador

Lafarge Cementos SA based in Quito, Ecuador, has recently announced the sale of its cement operations in Ecuador to Union Andina de Cementos S.A.A. (UNACEM), Lima, Perú. 

The transaction value is 405 mio Euros. Lafarge continues to operate an integrated cement plant of 1,4 mio tons capacity in Otavalo, in the North of the country. 
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
