1. The Third India Drymix Mortar Conference, Mumbai, 28. February 2014: Sponsor and Delegate Info

The ThirIndian Drymix Mortar Conference and Industry Showcase takes place in Mumbai, India, on 28. February 2014 from 09:00 until 16:30 at The Leela Hotel. Just like the previous events, The Indian Drymix Mortar Conference is the place to network for mortar experts from the dynamic Indian Subcontinent and beyond. 12 technical lectures, will be presented, three of them bundled into a and a strategy session. A comprehensive Industry Showcase completes the setup. So far, a record number of 23 drymix mortar manufacturers have registered for this event, in addition, there will be representatives of over 20 suppliers to the industry. The conference is being sponsored by Agrana, Akzo Nobel, Dow Corning, Frigmaires Engineers, Haver & Boecker, Kerneos, Knauf pft, Mapei, MYK Laticrete, Rhewum, Ultratech Cement, Wacker, WAM and ZKG International.

Organizational Details: The conference takes place at The Leela Hotel Mumbai (near the International Terminal of Chattrapathi Shivaji Airport, Mumbai). Packing of the conference bags takes place on Thursday, 27.2.14 at 14:00, all materials to contained within must be at Leela Hotel by this time. The setup of the industry Showcase (sposnors) takes place on Friday morning, 29.2.14 from 07:00 to 08:00. Delegate check-in starts at 08:00, the conference itself begins at 09:00. If you still wish to register as a delegate please use our shop (Visa or Mastercard required), delegate Admission is220 Euro (members: 195 Euro). Drymix mortar manufacturers is pay only 130 Euro (11.000 INR). Please note that tyou can only gain access if the admission fee has been pre-paid. In case of problems, do send us an e-mail, please.

The Fourth American Drymix Mortar Conference and Industry Showcase admmc four takes place at The Omni Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia, USA on April 8, 2014. The Technical Chairman is Prof. Dr. Johann Plank, Technische Universität München, Germany (TUM), the updated programme can be found on our website. The Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2014 will be published on occasion of admmc four.

Please note, that American Coatings Show takes place in the same period at the convention centre right next to Omni Hotel (actually from April 8 to April 10, 2014). This gives you on one side the opportunity to visit this important exhibition, on the other hand, accomodation might be hard to come by. We listed additional hotels within walking distance from the CNN Centre (right next to Omni Hotel) on our website for your convenience. Needless to say, it is advisable to book accomodation soon.

3. Emaar to Invest Heavily in Belgrade, Serbia

According to Vice-Premier Minister Alexander Vukic, Emaar, Dubai, United Arab Emirates is bidding actively to become the General Contractor of the development of "Belgrade River Front". The project involves the complete re-design of the Save and Danube riverfronts, including Belrade Main Station and the harbor. The plans are dating back to the nineties of the last century and had not been realized due to financial shortage and political isolation of the young Serb Republic. The entire project is estimated to cost 2.280 mio Euro and construction could start as early as end-2014. Vukic said, that the idea had been discussed during the previous visit of Emaar CEO Mohammed Ali Alabber to Belgrade in December 2013.

4. Praktiker Sells off Ukrainian Assets

BM Praktiker International (led by insolvency administrator Christopher Seagon) has sold off Praktiker Ukraine TOV, Kiev to the Ukrainian investor Kreston Guarantee Group. Kreston takes over all 4 outlets of Praktiker and its 380 employees. Details of the transaction were not disclosed, the take-over however is pending subject to the necessary anti-trust and regulatory approval. According to C. Seagon, other sales of Praktiker assets throughout Europe are in the negotiation phase.

5. Wacker Increases Prices for Dispersions

Wacker Polymers, a division of Wacker Chemie AG has decided to increase the prices for vinyl-acetate ethylene dispersions (tradename Vinnapas) and ethylene-vinyl chloride coploymer dispersions ("Vinnol") on a global level. In the Americas, the increase will be up to five percent per wet pound, in EMEA and Asia, it will be up to 30 Euro per ton, provided that existing customer contracts allow such increase. Wacker cites the continuous increase in raw materials cost as the main reason for this measure.
