1. idmmc four, Nürnberg, Germany, 18. March 2013: Technical Panel Completed

The 4th International Drymix Mortar Conference and Industry Showcase idmmc four takes place in Nürnberg, Germany, on 18. March 2013, 09:00 until 17:30 at Kleine Meistersingerhalle. It is one of the few truly worldwide events for the drymix mortar community. Organized by drymix.info directly before the bi-annual European Coatings Show, idmmc four provides (apart from lectures on the pressing topics in the drymix mortar world) ample time to re-unite and network. idmmc four also features a comprehensive Industry Showcase, where major suppliers to the mortar industry as well as those for lab equipment will be present and stand by for questions. The traditional Delegate Welcome takes place as casual evening at Barfüsser im Mautkeller, a more than 600 year old former grain depot, on Sunday, 17. March 2013, 19:00. The delegate welcome is free of charge, but advance registration (RSVP) is mandatory (sponsoring is welcome here!).

The Technical Chairman of idmmc four is Prof. Dr. Johann Plank, Technische Universität München (TUM), he is assisted by a Technical Committee consisting of Mario Kristeller (MCK Consultoria, Sao Paulo, Brasil), Mr. C.Y. Tan (Easyplas, Shenzen, China), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas A. Bier (Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany) and Prof. Dr. Andrey Pustovgar (MGSU, Moscow, Russia). Lectures by (in alphabetical order) Aalborg White, Air Products, Akzo Nobel AG (former Elotex AG), Avebe, Dow, Kerneos, Kalekim, Maleki, MC-Bauchemie (in cooperation with TUM), Momentive, Peramin, Rotec, Schönox (a Div. of Akzo Nobel), Tolsa, Ube Industries and Wacker have been accepted by the Technical Chairman.

Admission for idmmc four is net 370 Euro for regular delegates, reduced admission for drymix.info members is 320 Euro, all prices are subject to 19% VAT. It includes the Delegate Welcome Event as well as The Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2013, which will be published on occasion of idmmc four. 2. The Construction Chemicals Sessions at European Coatings Congress, Nürnberg, 19.3.2013

For the third time, Ferdinand Leopolder acts as the Technical Chairman of The Construction Chemicals Sessions at European Coatings Congress. The conference takes place from 18 to 19. March 2013, at Messezentrum Ost, Messe Nürnberg, Germany. There will be two Construction Chemicals Sessions on Tuesday, 19. March 2013, the morning session is chaired by Ferdinand Leopolder, the afternoon session by Prof. Dr. Andreas Gerdes of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), who also contributed substantially to the entire programme. The progamme includes lectures by (in alphabetical order) Baxenden (Chemtura), Cabot, Denka, Evonik, Inno AG, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, Kerneos, KIT, Maleki, TUM, Tolsa and TWI.

The European Coatings Congress is being organized by Vincentz Network, registration as a delegate is possible under www.european-coatings.com.

3. The European Mortar Summit, 6. and 7. June 2013, Barcelona, Spain

The European Mortar Industry Organisation EMO, Duisburg, Germany, is announcing the second European Mortar Summit to be held in Barcelona, Spain, on 6. and 7. June 2013. Conference location is Hotel Condes de Barcelona. As in Paris in 2011, Chief Executives from the Volume and Specialty Mortar Industry will meet on this occasion to discuss the current challenges and opportunities in Europe. National Focus lays on Turkey, with its rapidly growing construction economy. EMO has invited prestigious personalities as active contributors to to this summit (in order of appearance): Prof. Dr. Dr. Franz-Josef Radermacher, Ulm University, Member of Club of Rome, Prof. Josep Gómez Serrano, University of Barcelona, (tbd.) Lafarge Cement, (tbd.) IMSAD/IZODER, Robert Schmid, Austrotherm, Gülden Tombas, Kalekim, Muck Petzet, m-p-a Munich, Curator of the German Pavillion during last year's Architectural Biennale di Venezia, Christian Scherer, Fraunhofer Institut für Bauphysik, Hans van der Sloot, Chairman of CEN TC 351/WG 5 and Johannes Kreißig, PE International. Ludwig Soukup, President of EMO will lead throught the programme, assisted by Robert Benedé of ANFAPA, Hans-Peter Braus and Dr. Joachim Riechers of IWM/EMO.

The conference is being organized by EMO and Asociación Nacional der Fabricantes de Morteros Industriales ANFAPA. It starts with a Gala Diner at Restaurant Principal on 6. June (just around the corner from the Hotel Condes de Barcelona), where also EMO functionaries, who are in town for their annual internal meeting, as well as accompanying partners are invited. The actual lecturing programme starts on Friday, 7. June in the morning and runs all day (see above). A moderated Panel discussion is planned for mid-day. 4. Sofraden is Being Integrated into Vinci Energie

Sofraden Industrie, of Saint Etienne, France has announced that it has been integrated into Vinci Energies, Montesson, France. Since 2011, Sofraden Industrie is an Industrial Partner of drymix.info. Sofraden produces turnkey drmix mortar plants as well as other industrial equipment and plant installations. Vinci offers engineering and services related to industrial processes in Europe and beyond, its turnover is said to have reached 9.000 mio Euro in 2012, the group has over 64.000 employees in 45 countries. Vinci will be preserving the identity of the companies involved.

5. Praktiker Markets in Turkey Close

Praktiker Gruppe, headquartered in Kirkel, Germany, has decided to retreat from Turkey and will stop funding the local subsidiary Praktiker Yapi Marketleri, which showed continued negative business development. Praktiker operates nine hardware stores in Turkey, the Turkish subsidiary filed for insolvency at the court of jurisdiction in Istanbul recently. "This step is necessary in the face of the strategic redirection of our group. We cannot afford constant losses like in Turkey." the CEO of Praktiker AG, Armin Burger said. During the insolvency proceedings, the market portfolio will be handed over to third parties as a whole or in parts, all merchandise will be sold. If the court agrees to this request, the existing management of the Turkish Praktiker subsidiary will act under the supervision of the Turkish government.

6. Tata Group Will Invest into Affordable Housing Project in Ahmadabad, India

Tata Housing, which is a part of the Tata Group, Mumbai, India has announced it will be investing over Rs. 3.500cr (close to 500 mio Euro) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. A Memory of Understanding, signed with the Gujarat Government calls for over 6.000 housing units to be built in a Public-Private Partnership cooperation on over 100 acres (40,5 hectares) of land. The PPP project is only one part of a huge development plan which runs for the next 5 years. The State Government of Gujarat in planning to build 2,8 mio homes in rural areas and 2,2 mio homes in the urban agglomerations. The investments into affordable housing units in Gujarat is estimated to be well over 22.700 mio Euro in that period.
