1.1. The 5th Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting, Monterrey, 25JUN24: over 100 Delegates!

On June 25, 2024 Drymix mortar experts from Central America meet at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel San Jerónimo in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Recently added: our post-event chill-down with snacks and drinks sponsored by Kathion - thanks a lot! Check out our updated program on our website (new presentation by Synthomer). More than 100 delegates have already registered. Come join us for the 8th Central European Drymix Mortar Conference taking place again at magnificent Çırağan Palace, İstanbul, Turkey, on Thursday, 19. September 2024. Demand from the industry to present their latest findings and developments was immense, so the program will start this year at 10:00 already. 1.4. Drymix Mortars in the Middle East 2024 in Cooperation with Abu Dhabi University, 19NOV24

We are proud and happy to announce that Drymix Mortars in the Middle East 2024 - The 17th Annual MEDMA Conference will be hosted and organized in cooperation with Abu Dhabi University on 19NOV24. The building materials experts from the College of Engineering at ADU chaired by Dr. Reem Sabouni are fully supporting this technical conference! The Call for Papers is running until 15JUL24, there are only limited lecturing slots available, please get in touch with us.

1.5. The 10th International Drymix Mortar Conference idmmcX, Nürnberg, 24MAR25: CfP Published

Our 10th conference in Nürnberg takes place on 24. March 2025 (immediately before European Coatings Show 2025) - for sure with a great delegate welcome celebrating 23 years of drymix.info (we forgot our 20th anniversary due to the pandemic - sponsors are welcome). The Call for Papers is running until 30SEP24 (absolute deadline), there are only limited lecturing slots available, please get in touch with us.  24+25MAR25, Call for Papers issued.

1.6. The Construction Chemicals Sessions I and II at European Coating Congress, Nürnberg, 25MAR25

The construction chemicals sessions at European Coatings Congress are again chaired by Prof. Dr. Andreas Gerdes (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology KIT) and Ferdinand Leopolder (drymix.info). The Call for Papers is running until 15SEP24 (absolute deadline)

1.7. Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2025: Call for Submissions

The new Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2025 is in the works: it will be published at idmmcX in Nürnberg in March 2025 and will accompany all drymix.info, MEDMa and SEADMA events in 2025 and early 2026. Scientific content is highly appreciated, but also product presentations (advertorials) are welcome - a wonderful tool to keep in touch with your key customers. Deadline for materials is 01DEC24, but we recommend to submit your proposal this and next month already (publishing fees apply).

2. Sulikim joins MEDMA as Member

Sulikim of Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, has decided to join the Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA as a member. Sulikim was established in 2021 in the Sulaymaniyah province in Northern Iraq and is now supplying areas all over Iraq with their products Tile Adhesive, Tile Grout, Masonry Mortar and Thermal Insulation Board Adhesive. Sulikim plans to extend their product range to cover all dry mix products.

3. Jorakay to Set up a Factory in Vietnam by 2028

Jorakay Corporation of Bangkok, Thailand, plans to invest 7,5 mio Euro (THB 300 mio) for a new plant in Vietnam due to the strong demand for cementitious tile adhesives (CTA) and grouts there. The new plant - commissioning will be in 2028 - will also produce for The Philippines and Indonesia. According to Jorakay, sales in Vietnam will already reach 3,8 mio Euro (THB 150 mio) this year, increasing to 7,5 mio Euro (THB 500 mio) by 2028. The facility will also support exports to the Philippines and Indonesia, benefiting from lower shipping cost from Vietnam.

4. Sika Opens New Plant in NE China

Sika of Baar, Switzerland, has recently opened a new plant for drymix mortars in Liaoning Province in NorthEastern China. The company will manufacture a full range of products of drymix mortars there, including tile adhesives, grouts, specialty mortars as well as waterproofing compounds. The plant serves several provinces in China's NorthEast and also central Mongolia. The project also includes offices, laboratories, warehousing and logistics. Given the fact that the new plant lies in a region with a lot of heavy industries, Sika intends to use post industrial wastes such as Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slags (GGBFS) and industrial ashes as OPC replacements, as well as alternative aggregates to lower the carbon footprint of its mortars.

5. Nouryon Joins MEDMA as Industrial Partner

Nouryon Specialty Chemicals B.V. of Amsterdam, The Netherlands has decided to join the Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA as industrial partner. The company's product portfolio includes organic peroxides, bleaching chemicals, expandable microspheres and surfactants. For the drymix mortar industry, Nouryon offers cellulose ethers as water retention agents and rheologic additives (trade name Bermocoll). Nouryon operates in over 80 countries with about 8.200 employees worldwide, their office and innovation center in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was opened in 2021.
