Welcome to our team, Philippe!
Early April, Philippe Russo has joined our drymix.info team as Director. Philippe holds a Master Degree in Chemistry from Lyon School of Industrial Chemistry (CPE) and brings us a vast experience in drymix mortars with focus on ASEAN and East Asia. Philippe and Leo have been colleagues at Wacker Chemie's Global Market Development team and stayed in touch ever since. After Wacker, Philippe worked for BASF, Rehau and IMCD (all in SEA).

Apart from his global responsibility, Philippe will take a leading role in his “home-territory” and assist in organizing and holding events and technical education programs for both drymix.info and SEADMA. With Philippe's help we intend to develop our community even further in terms of technology transfer and quality improvement in the entire area.

1. MEDMA Members Convention (15APR24): Important Decisions

The First MEDMA Members Convention and Assembly took place yesterday at Wacker Chemie Middle East at Dubai Silicon Oasis (thanks a lot, Mohammed, for hosting us!). Laith Haboubi, MEDMA's President welcomed 15 delegates from members and partners. Ferdinand Leopolder, Secretary of MEDMA had prepared the meeting and moderated it. Mohammed Sanaobar, Technical Chairman of MEDMA led the technology sessions. All members and partners will receive the protocol, here is a glimpse at the most important decisions:

The MEDMA Technical Committee:
=> will be reinforced by volunteers from Pidilite Puma (others are welcome!)
=> Mohammed presented his approach on ISO 13007 at Dubai Municipality (meeting in May with Laith, Leo, Juan and Mohammed will be scheduled)
=> Juan and Daniel (Pidilite Puma) presented their ideas about introducing Spanish Standard UNE 138002:2017 into MEDMA's education program.

The MEDMA Regional Strategy
=> Saudi Arabia is first priority from now on, Leo was authorized to travel there again and continue, re-start the Saudi Chapter of MEDMA. An event will be planned for Jeddah in 2025.
=> University cooperations should yield additional resources for MEDMA, we are looking for an intern

2. First UK & Ireland Drymix Mortar Meeting next Week: close to 120 Delegates!

The 1st Drymix Mortar Meeting in the UK takes place at Worsley Park Marriott Hotel and Country Club in Manchester on 25. April 2024. But not only that – on the day before, the Blackburn Golf Competition takes place (list closed, flights are being assigned now), followed by our Delegate Welcome on WED 24APR25, 19:00 at the clubhouse.

As of today, we are proud to say that close to 120 drymix mortar experts have registered for our 1st UK & Ireland Drymix Mortar Meeting! 

Admission is £ 480 | 550 €, reduced to £ 395 | 450 € for drymix.info members or partners. Drymix mortar manufacturers pay only £ 170 | 190 €.

3. The 5th Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting, Monterrey, 25JUN24: Topics (ES+EN)

Remark: due to the high amount of lecturing proposals we unfortunately had to turn down some contributions in the past (we hated to do this!). Please observe the deadlines of our Calls for Papers  and give us your ideas as early as possible (first-come, first-serve).

4.1. cedmmc8 - 8th Central European Drymix Mortar Conference, Istanbul, Turkey, 19SEP24

The 8th Central European Drymix Mortar Conference takes place at magnificent Çırağan Palace, İstanbul, Turkey, on Thursday, 19. September 2024 (Call for Papers already expired, sorry). Directly after our conference we board ship for a wonderful cruise on the Bosphorus via the palace's own jetty. Sponsors here so far are Calucem and Kalekim (looking for more ;-). The entire event is being supported by (in alphabetical order) Billerud, Blackburn, BYK, Calucem, Celanese/Elotex, Çimsa, Dow, Haver & Boecker, Imerys, Kalekim, Mapei, m-tec, Omya, Organik Kimya, Paul Scherrer Institut, Saint Gobain Weber and Wacker Chemie. 4.4. Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2025 (Deadline 01DEC24)

The  Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2025 will be issued at idmmcX, Nürnberg, Germany, 25. March 2025 (immediately before European Coatings Show 2025), it will be given to all our delegates in the following events 2025 and spring 2026. Scientific content is highly appreciated, but also product presentations (advertorials) are welcome - a wonderful tool to keep in touch with your key customers. Deadline for materials is 01DEC24, but we recommend to place your order/propose your content immediately.

5. El-Khayyat Dry-Mix Joins MEDMA as Member

El-Khayyat Dry-Mix Factory, Yanbu, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (part of El-Khayyat Industries Holding) has decided to join the Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA as member. El Khayyat is a family-owned company established in 1972 with presence in many manufacturing sectors such as bricks, cement, ceramic and porcelain tiles, gypsum powder and gypsum board as well as drymix mortars. El-Khayyat Holding operates many manufacturing lines in 7 cities and 400 sales centers and warehouses all over Saudi Arabia. El-Khayyat established its drymix mortar factory in Yanbu in 2015, on a plot of over 22,000 sq.m. with a fully automated drymix mortar plant designed and supplied by Eirich, production capacity is over 800 tons per day.

6. Arodo Joins drymix.info as Industrial Partner

Arodo of Arendonk, Belgium, has decided to join drymix.info as Industrial Partner. Founded in 1989, Arodo has focussed on the development and production of customizable packaging systems for powdered materials in the construction, chemical, mineral and food and feed industries. Arodo offers a vacuum packaging technology (tradename Arovac) for packaging even hygroscopic powders hermetically sealed. Arodo is part of Corpax Group.

7. Pidilite Inaugurates Manufacturing Facility for Tile Adhesive in Uttar Pradesh

Pidilite Industries of Mumbai, India, has recently inaugurated its manufacturing facility in Sandila (Uttar Pradesh, near Lucknow), a fully automated facility for the manufacturing of Pidilite's cementitious tile adhesives and grouts (CTA; brandname Roff). With this greenfield investment (over one hectare of land), Pidilite is strategically located in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and certain areas of Bihar to technically support the replacement of hand-mix/cement by sophisticated CTAs, which is essential for installing modern, highly vitrified and very large tiles. "This greenfield project is part of our plan to modernize this industry and transform the way India fixes tiles and stones (..)" said Bharat Puri, Managing Director at Pidilite.
