Correction: In our drymix.info News 290/2023 we reported about Sika's takeover of Chema in Peru. Erroneously we mentioned that Sika earlier had acquired „the mortar activities of Celima“. This is not correct: the CTA activities of Celima were acquired by Saint Gobain Weber back in 2020 (we reported then). We apologize for this mistake.

1. WED 11OCT23, Sharjah: Drymix Mortar in the Middle East almost Fully Booked

Only a few seats are left for the 16th Annual MEDMA Conference, taking place at Sharjah Expo on 11. October 2023 during Gulf Coating Show (GCS: from 09 to 11OCT2023). Our comprehensive technical program features presentations by (in alphabetical order) Agrana, Abu Dhabi University, American University of Sharjah, Blackburn Chemicals, Caparol/DAW, m-tec, Polyplast, Poraver, Synthomer and Wacker Chemie.

 Admission is free of charge. To secure your attendance, advance registration is mandatory by e-mail to info@drymix.info, walk-in guests are likely to be turned away due to limited availability.

2. THU 12OCT23, Dubai WTC Club: MEDMA Annual General Assembly for Members and Partners

MEDMA members and partners are exclusively invited to join the festive MEDMA Annual General Assembly on Thursday, 12. October 2023 from 16:00 to 19:00. We meet at the historic landmark of World Trade Center Tower Dubai, at splendid WTC Club on the 33rd floor to discuss MEDMAs’ future expansion, Membership Drive, HR development and budgeting.

3. TUE 17OCT23, Mumbai: 7th India Drymix Mortar Conference: Strong Registrations

The drymix mortar industry of the Indian Subcontinent meets in Mumbai on17. October 2023 for the 7th India Drymix Mortar Conference taking place at Orchid Ecotel Vile Parle, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Already over 70 industry experts from all regions throughout India have announced their attendance - and most likely visit World Of Concrete India after our event (WOC India: 18 to 20OCT23). The Construction Chemical Manufacturers Association of India (CCMA) is supporting our event, Hon. Himanshu Kapadia will greet the assembly and perform the opening rituals.

4. THU 23NOV23, Bogor: The 16th Annual SEADMA Conference with Promindo and HAKI

The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA, together with its local Chapter Promindo, invites construction materials experts from throughout ASEAN and Eastern Asia. An additional cooperation has been agreed upon with the Indonesia Construction Contractors Association HAKI. We will met at palace-like Novotel Bogor - a wonderful and relaxing fresh-air cure: far away form the city noise, traffic & stress. Our program features lectures by (in alphabetical order) Agrana, Avebe, Calucem, Demix Sarana Industri Indonesia, H.A.K.I., Haver&Boecker, Imerys, Polyplast, Promindo , Maleki GmbH, Maltech, Mortindo (Triputra; PT Drymix), NFLG, Sofraden, Testing Bluhm & Feuerherdt and Wacker Chemie.

5. New Date: 20FEB2024 for 6th Australia Meeting and New Location @ Darling Harbor, Sydney

For the sixth time, drymix mortar experts from Australia, New Zealand and beyond meet to discuss recent technological developments and regional trends (our 5th meeting took place on 5. March 2020 in Sydney - you know what came next...). We are very glad to be back finally. The 6th Australia Drymix Mortar Meeting takes place at the National Maritime Museum (MuSEAum) in Sydney, on Tuesday, 20. February 2024 The full-day, key event for the drymix mortar industry brings technical and product oriented speeches by renowned experts, as well as ample networking time. The Maritime Museum will provide elegant surroundings and stunning views of Darling Harbor and downtown Sydney. An industry showcase is accompanying the event. Also, we will host a Delegate Welcome on the evening of 19. February 2024 - again: sponsors are welcome. Our Call for Papers is still running until 31. October 2023 - please submit your proposals (lecturing fees apply).

Admission to The 6th Australia Drymix Mortar Meeting is 550 €, reduced to 450 € for drymix.info members or partners. Drymix mortar manufacturers pay only 190 €. There is a travel allowance of 90 Euro for drymix mortar manufacturers coming from outside New South Wales, please enquire with us.

6. 24. and 25APR2024, Manchester: The 1st UK & Ireland Drymix Mortar Meeting with Golf Competition; Call for Papers Issued

For the very first time, a drymix mortar meeting will take place in the UK24! We are thrilled to host the 1st UK & Ireland (and Iceland!) Drymix Mortar Meeting on 25. April at Worsley Park Marriott Hotel and Country Club in Manchester, UK. Our Call for Papers has recently been issued and ends on 30NOV23 - interested companies are encouraged to submit scientific lectures and/or product presentations (lecturing fees apply, enquire with us).

To our great delight, we could convince Jack Lamb of Blackburn Chemicals to sponsor a Golf Competition (full 18 holes) on Wednesday, 24. April 2024. Also, we will have a Delegate Welcome at the conference location that same day. Please think about joining the Blackburn Trophy NOW, deadline for inscription is also 30NOV23. Sponsoring of the Delegate Welcome is also encouraged.

7. Grupo Puma Sides with Pidilite to Produce Drymix Mortars in the UAE

Grupo Puma, Córdoba, Spain and Pidilite Industries Limited, Mumbai India, have recently announced they will join forces for the production and marketing of drymix mortars in the United Arab Emirates. They formed Pidilite Puma MEA Chemicals LLC at Dubai Investment Park 2. The new company is determined to produce specialty drymix mortar such as cementitious tile adhesives (CTA) and grouts, self-levelling compounds as well as technical and decorative drymix mortars for the UAE and GCC markets. Both Pidilite and Puma bring their technological knowhow and experience into the new strategic partnership.

8. Fenchem Biotek Joins drymix.info as Industrial Partner

Fenchem Biotek Ltd of Nanjing, China, has decided to join drymix.info as industrial partner. Established in 1995, Fenchem is a global supplier of chemical additives for the construction industry, also providing its customers with local logistics and warehousing services. Fenchem's product portfolio includes cellulose ethers such as HEMC, HPMC, HEC, redispersible powders (RDP), superplasticizers and various other additives. Currently, Fenchem is also developing hydrophobic agents for waterproofing and for the use RDPs.

9. Nippon Paint Completes Merger with Berger Paints, Restructures Activities in India

Nippon Paint Holdings of Osaka, Japan, acquires the shares of Indian paint manufacturers Nippon Paint India Private Limited, Temil Nadu, India as well as Berger Nippon Paint Automotive Coatings Private Limited, Delhi, India, as subsidiaries. This is part of a larger initiative of Nippon Paint to restructure its businesses in India and Europe.

10. Cinven Completes Master Builders Solutions Acquisition

Cinven Partners LLP, London, UK has recently completed the acquisition of Master Builders Solutions (formerly MBCC Admixtures Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand), Mannheim, Germany. The deal had surfaced as part of the anti-trust rulings concerning the Sika takeover of MBCC in spring of this year (we reported earlier). The newly shaped Master Builders Solutions supplies concrete admixtures globally, with more than 1,600 employees and 35 production sites across the UK, the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

11. Wacker Chemie Expands Silicone Production in China

Wacker Chemie AG, Munich, Germany has recently announced an expansion of its specialty silicone manufacturing capacities in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu, China. Wacker plans the construction of several new production lines for functional silicone fluids, emulsions and silicone elastomer gels. According to Wacker, the investment value will be around 150 mio Euro. The new plants are expected to be operational in the second half of 2025.
