The 7th American Drymix Mortar Conference admmc7 and ScalingUp3D 2023 on Thursday, June 8, 2023 (Richmond, VA) and Friday, June 9, 2023 (Newport News, VA) is coming soon! Thanks to our sponsors Imerys, Nouryon and SGGC we will gather in the evening of June 8 at a casual delegate get-together. This is a great opportunity to recap an exciting conference day and catching up with friends and clients in a relaxed atmosphere. Our 2-day-event admmc7 and ScalingUp3D starts with our comprehensive lecturing program at marvelous historic Byrd Theatre in Richmond on June 8. The following day a field trip by bus to Newport News is scheduled with more lectures at Downing Gross Cultural Arts Centre and a visit of 2 brand new 3D Mortar Printing projects executed by Black Buffalo 3D and MAPEI USA (thanks a lot for the sponsoring!) for Habitat for Humanity.

Admissions include all conference materials, breaks and lunch on both days as well as the get together evening on June 8 and the bus transfer to and from Newport News on June 9, 2023. FYI: there are no single day passes available, sorry.

2. ladmmc7, São Paulo, 7. August 2023: Already over 50 Registered!

Registration for the 7th Latin American Drymix Mortar Conference on Monday, 7. August 2023 at Espaço Escandinavo, Morumbi, São Paolo, Brasil has started, over 50 drymix mortar experts have registered already, partially taking advantage of our Early Bird Discount, which expired this week (sorry ;-(. Do not miss this opportunity to meet the drymix mortar and construction chemical producers from Brasil and South America and hear about the latest news from the industry. Like back in 2019, drymix.info will donate 1.000 € (BR$ 5.500) to the urban gardeners of Cidades sem Fome, Hans Dieter Temp will again bring produce to the event and tell us about his social project. ladmmc7 is supprted (so far!) by Baumit, Cimental, Evonik, FLSmidth, HAVER & BOECKER, Imerys, m-tec, Maleki, Polyplast, Universidade de São Paulo (USP) and Vale.The preliminary list of topics can be found on www.drymix.info.

Remark: On Tuesday, 8. August 2023, we are planning a joint visit to Concrete Show South America (organized by World of Concrete, running until 10. August 2023 at São Paulo Expo), delegates are encouraged to join us.

3. Time to Submit Your Lecturing Proposals and Articles

The Call for Papers for the following events is still open:
a) The 16th Annual MEDMA Conference, Sharjah, 11. October 2023 (deadline for proposals is 30. June 2023)
b) The 7th India Drymix Mortar Conference, Mumbai, 17. October 2023 (deadline for proposals is 31. May 2023)
c) The 16th Annual SEADMA Conference, Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, 23. November 2023 (deadline for proposals is 31. May 2023)
d) Articles and Ads for Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2024
We would be pleased to have your scientific articles or advertorials in our Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2024, the earlier, the better! This is the only publication focussed entirely on drymix mortars (publishing fees apply). Deadline for submissions is 30. November 2023
e) The Calls for Papers for our events coming in spring and early summer of 2024 are already out, namely for Australia and Great Britain.

4. TPI Polene joins SEADMA as a Member

TPI Polene of Bangkok, Thailand, has decided to join The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA Ltd as a member. Established in 1991 as TPI Nylon Co., Ltd. by the Leophairatana family, the TPI Group evolved from petrochemicals to become a large conglomerate manufacturing construction materials (including drymix mortars), specialty polymers & chemicals, renewable power fueled mainly by municipal solid waste and bio-organic compounds for agricultural application. TPI Polene offers over 5.000 products and is one of the largest cement producers in Thailand (currently operates three cement production plants).

SEADMA warmly welcomes the team of TPI Polene as Member.

5. Heidelberg Materials Acquires US Companies SEFA and RMS Gravel

Heidelberg Materials, Germany has entered into a definitive purchase agreement to acquire The SEFA Group, Inc., Lexington, SC, USA. SEFA is one of the largest fly ash recycling companies in the US with more than 500 employees at over 20 locations. With this backward integration, Heidelberg Materials secures key raw materials for more sustainable cements such as CEM III. Another acquisition of Heidelberg Materials was announced recently: RMS Gravel Inc, New York, NY, a producer of sand and gravel products. This fits into Heidelberg's strategy to reuse recycled building materials in concrete. Both transactions are expected to close within 2023, transaction values were not given for either one.

6. Sika Completes Takeover and Starts Integration of MBCC

After obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals (and spinning off several businesses of MBCC to Cinven last month, we reported earlier) Sika AG of Baar, Switzerland has completed the takeover of MBCC, Mannheim, Germany. Sika expects annual synergies of up to 180 mio Euro by 2026. Net sales of the remaining MBCC business was over 2.100 mio Euro in 2022, it was employing over 6.000 people worldwide in 60 countries and operating 95 plants. Including the new business, Sika expects sales of over 12.000 mio Euro in 2023
