1. Drymix Mortars in the Middle East, Dubai, 6 FEB 2023: Registration Starts

The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA, Dubai, UAE, invites to its 15th Annual Conference entitled “Drymix Mortars in the Middle East” on Monday, 6. February 2023. This is the first gathering of the drymix mortar industry in the Middle East (GSO and beyond) after the pandemic, it takes place at the brand new Radisson Red Convention Center, Dubai Silicon Oasis. It will also feature an Annual General Assembly of MEDMA, greeting its new President, Laith Haboubi. MEDMA is also pleased to welcome Mr. Sreenivas Naidu, who recently assumed his position as Business Development Manager for MEDMA.

The list of topics was published in our last Newsletter and the program is available online already. Admission to Drymix Mortars in the Middle East (the 15th Annual MEDMA Conference) is 450 €, reduced to 350 € for MEDMA, drymix.info or SEADMA Partners. Drymix mortar producers pay only 190 €. Travel Special: Mortar Producers from outside the UAE pay only 100 Euro per person. Please register online on www.drymix.info using your credit card (Visa or Master).

The Philippine Drymix Mortar Manufacturers Association PhilDMMA and The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA Ltd, Singapore, are inviting to The 4th Philippine Drymix Mortar meeting. This event is taking place at Holiday Inn Makati City on Thursday, 9. February 2023. We are particularly looking forward to seeing drymix mortar experts from the entire region again, especially also from Taiwan. We are glad to report two new entries for lecturing (the list of topics was published in our last Newsletter and the program is already available online):

3. idmmc9 (Nürnberg, Germany, 27 MAR 23); admmc7 (Richmond, VA, USA, JUN 8, 2023): Updates, Locations

The 9th International Drymix Mortar Conference idmmc9 takes place on Monday, 27. March 2023 at Kleine Meistersingerhalle in Nürnberg, Germany. Our Technical Chairman, Prof. Dr. Johann Plank, Technische Universität München TUM has reviewed the lecturing proposals and we will publish the List of Topics in our next Newsletter. On Sunday, 26 MAR 2023, from 19:00, we will have pur traditional casual Delegate Welcome at a new location: at Fränkische Weinstube im Handwerkerhof, inside the historic fortifications of Königstor (opposite of Hauptbahnhof).

The 7th American Drymix Mortar Conference idmmc9 takes place on Thursday, June 8, 2023 in Richmond, Virginia, USA. We managed to secure a splendid location for this event: The Byrd Theatre, a historic landmark movie theatre in Carytown (see https://byrdtheatre.org/about/). Prof. Dr. Johann Plank, Technische Universität München TUM, our Technical Chairman, is currently reviewing the lecturing proposals and we will publish the List of Topics in our February Newsletter and on our website. For ScalingUp 3D, we are planning an excursion for interested delegates to Virginia and the DC area, we will keep you posted about this once definite.

4. Sepiolsa Joins drymix.info as a Partner

Sepiolsa of Azuqueca de Henares, Guadalajara, Spain has decided to join drymix.info as a Partner. Sepiolsa was founded in 1986, the company is a division of Minersa Group, Getxo, Spain. Sepiolsa extracts and markets clays such as sepiolite, bentonite, hormite, stevensite-kerolite and attapulgite.

5. Cemkem Joins drymix.info as a Partner

Cemkem Ltd. (part of the Rakem Group), Bury, Lancashire, UK has decided to join drymix.info as an Industrial Partner. The company specializes in blends of organometallic and metal salts which react synergistically to accelerate the hydration process of OPC and fast setting cements (Tradename Lithkem).

6. Laticrete Middle East Joins MEDMA as Member

Laticrete Middle East, Ras-al-Khaimah, UAE has decided to join MEDMA as a member. The company, established in the region in 1995 operates a production base in Ras-al-Khaimah for drymix mortars and other products. From here Laticrete serves the entire GCC area, neighboring markets and Africa with drymix mortars such as but not limited to tile adhesives, natural stone adhesives, grouts as well waterproofing technologies.

MEDMA warmly welcomes Laticrete Middle East among its members.

7. Inocon-IP takes over Christof Industries

Inocon Industrial Plants GmbH of Attnang-Puchheim has announced the take-over of Christof Industries Austria GmbH of Wels (both Austria). Both companies are providers for the development, installation and servicing of industrial plants with a focus on drymix mortar plants (former Doubrava activities). Being active in the same business field, Inocon expects an increase of its turnover by 50% thanks to the integration of Christof Industries Austria. Inocon plans to also employ the full staff of Christof Industries (32 people). The transaction value was not disclosed.

8. Azelis Acquires Chemiplas (Australia/New Zealand)

Azelis Holding SA of Antwerp, Belgium, has acquired Chemiplas Agencies Ltd of Auckland, New Zealand, a distributor of specialty chemicals in the ANZPAC region with more than 100 employees. Azelis is a globally active distributor in the same field. The transaction is still subject to customary closing conditions and expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2023. The transaction value has not been disclosed by either party.

9. Sika Opens New Plant in Chongquing, China

Sika AG of Baar, Switzerland is opening a new plant for liquid membranes and drymix mortars in the metropolitan area of Chongqing, Southwestern China. Chongquing itself has almost 30 mio inhabitants, the larger the Chengdu-Chongqing business district has over 100 mio inhabitants and this represents one of the most important areas in China. Details as to the investment volume and the capacity of the automated drymix mortar plant were not given.
