1. PPM Malaysia and SEADMA Invite to Penang on 3 JAN 2023

Perkumpulan Pengilang Mortar Pra-Bancuh (PPM, Malaysia Drymix Mortar Manufacturer's Association), Kuala Lumpur and The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA Ltd, Singapore, are inviting to a casual meeting in Penang on Tuesday, 3. January 2023, 19:00 (exact location tbd.). PPM and SEADMA members and interested parties will be discussing PPM's plans for 2023 there. Also, Mr. Terence Yong of Pye Products and EC member of SEADMA will present himself as a candidate for Presidency in PPM.

Please tell us until 21 DEC 2022 if you are coming, so we can choose and size the venue. The meeting will be free of charge, however if we can not find a sponsor we will split the bill.

2. Drymix Mortars in the Middle East, Dubai, 6 FEB 2023: Program

The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA, Dubai, UAE, invites to its Drymix Mortars in the Middle East Conference on Monday, 6. February 2023 (15th Annual MEDMA Conference). This first gathering of the drymix mortar industry in the Middle East (GSO and beyond) after the pandemia takes place at the brand new Radisson Red Convention Center, Dubai Silicon Oasis. It will also feature an Annual General Assembly of MEDMA, greeting its new President, Laith Haboubi. Sponsors are warmly welcome.

3. 4th Philippine Drymix Mortar Meeting, Manila, 9 FEB 2023: New Location & Program

The Philippine Drymix Mortar Manufacturers Association PhilDMMA and The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA Ltd, Singapore, are inviting to The 4th Philippine Drymix Mortar meeting. This event is taking place at Holiday Inn Makati City (please note the new location!) on Thursday, 9. February 2023. We are particularly looking forward to seeing drymix mortar experts from the entire region again, especially also from Taiwan, since this meeting was the first victim of the pandemia back in March 2020.

4. New Prices of drymix.info from January 2023: Order this Month and Enjoy the Old Ones

As announced earlier, our new prices and our new List of Services becomes effective on 1 JAN 2023 (this list is available to all our clients from today onwards). Our price increase is between +15% and +20% for sponsoring, lecturing, publications and admissions. Admissions for drymix mortar manufacturers remain the same.

Here is our deal for those of you who know already when & where they want to participate: order and pay within December 2022 and profit from our 15 year old prices! Conditions: 2022 prices apply only for sponsoring and admissions for events within the year 2023, not applicable for Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2024.

5. Kima Chemical Joins drymix.info as Industrial Partner

Kima Chemical Co. Ltd. of Zibo, Shandong, China has decided to join drymix.info as Industrial Partner. Kima Chemical, founded in 2005, manufactures a portfolio of cellulose ethers (such as HEC, HPMC, CMC and MHEC) and redispersible powders.

We warmly welcome Kima Chemical as partner of drymix.info.

6. IMCD India Acquires Parkash Dye Chem

IMCD India of Mumbai, India, has acquired the specialty chemical distributor Parkash Dye Chem of New Delhi, India. Parkash Dye Chem distributes raw materials to the coatings and construction industries. The company employs around 60 people, and generated a turnover of 30 Mio Euro in 2021. The transaction is still subject to customary conditions. The transaction value has not been disclosed by either party.

7. BASF Sells its US Attapulgite Business to Clariant

BASF SE of Ludwigshafen, Germany has recently reached an agreement with Clariant AG Basel, Switzerland to sell its Attapulgite business (tradename Attagel). The transaction includes the transfer of land as well as mining rights in Quincy, Florida and Georgia, the processing facility and inventories. BASF's Attapulgite business reached a turnover of 34 mio Euro in 2020. Clariant will integrate the business into its Functional Materials Division. The transaction value was 57 mio Euro (cash deal), it is still subject to the usual approvals.

8. Heidelberg Materials Acquires Recycling Experts RWG (Germany) and Mick George (UK)

Heidelberg Materials, (HeidelbergCement AG) Germany, has recently acquired RWG Holding of Berlin, Germany (focused on demolition and construction materials recycling in Berlin area), as well as Mick George Group of Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom (focused on recycling, quarrying, concrete and earth-moving). RWG Holding generated a turnover of around 50 mio Euro with its 250 employees in 2021, Mick George Group employs 1.000 people at more than 40 locations in the UK and reports an annual turnover of around 255 mio Euro. It can be assumed, that Heidelberg Materials aims at producing in-house alternatives to aggregates used in the production of concrete and thus lower its carbon footprint in this segment. The transactions are still subject to the usual anti-trust approvals, transaction values have not been disclosed by any of the parties.

9. PCI Expands Dispersion Production in Augsburg

PCI Augsburg GmbH, Germany, has recently inaugurated its new dispersion plant in Augsburg. The new production unit doubles the annual capacity in Augsburg to 18.000 tons. The new plant is expected to come on stream with full capacity this month. It took about 12 months to build the plant, details on cost were not given by PCI.
