Estamos realmente abrumados por la respuesta a nuestro evento en vivo y en persona en la Ciudad de México el 21 de junio de 2022: la 4a Reunión Centroamericana de Morteros Secos y Exhibición de la Industria en Holiday Inn Plaza Universidad. Los delegados provienen de toda la región, así como de Estados Unidos y Europa. Nuestro programa está disponible en el sitio web. Una adición reciente es la conferencia del Dr. Luis Menchaca sobre ligantes minerales alternativos (cemento de vidrio). Mexico City, 21.6.22: the 4th Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting: already over 90 Registrations!

We are really overwhelmed by the response to our live and in-person in Mexico City on 21. June 2022: the 4th Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting and Industry Showcase at Holiday Inn Plaza Universidad. Delegates come from the entire region as well as the US and Europe. Our program is available on the website. A recent addition is Dr. Luis Menchaca's lecture on alternative binders (glass cement). After the event, we will meet at the open-air bar, the cocktails are still pay-your-own, unless a sponsor (or several) surfaces. But I am sure we will have fun.

September 2022. attention lecturers/presenters: we have already received a lot of exciting contributions our Call for Papers expires next week. 3. The 7th Latin American Drymix Mortar Conference ladmmc7, São Paulo, Brasil, 20. October 2022

The 7th Latin American Drymix Mortar Conference and Industry Showcase ladmmc7 takes place at Espaço Escandinavo, São Paulo, Brasil, 20. October 2022. Our Technical Chairman is Mario Kristeller the Call for Papers expires on 30. June 2022. The success in Mexico makes us optimistic we expect drymix mortar experts from throughout Brasil to attend and report at ladmmc7. I am sure we will be able to arrange for cocktails after our event, so we are looking for sponsors here, too.

4. Stärken Drymix Solutions Joins Malaysia Drymix Mortar Manufacturers Association PPM

Särken Drymix Solutions, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has recently joined Pertubuhan Pengilang Mortar Pra-Bancuh (PPM) as a members. PPM is the Malaysia Chapter of The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Associatin SEADMA Ltd. Stärken is part of Chin Hin Group, a fully integrated building materials manufacturer and distributor conglomerate. Särken Drymix Solutions produces a wide portfolio of drymix mortars at its Bidor, Perak plant since 2018.

5. Chemo India and Unipharma Acquired by Azelis

Azelis Group NV, Berchem, Belgium has announced the acquisition of Dhirajlal Shah's Chemo India and the distribution assets of Unipharm Laboratories, both Mumbai, India. Both companies are importers and distributors of specialy chemicals, Chemo India has a portfolio containing coatings and drymix mortar additives. amit and Jigar shah from the former owner will continue to lead the business. A transaction value was not given, the deal is expected to be completed within 2022 and is still subject to the clarification of the usual closing conditions.

6. Perstorp Sold to Petronas Group

Petronas Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG) of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Perstorp Group AB of Perstorp, Sweden. Perstorp is a Founding Member of drymix.info and known for its Calcium Formate (a set-accelerator) for the concrete and drymix mortar industries. „Perstorp is an excellent match for us ... It enables us to reach to end-markets such as paints and coatings, construction, plastic additives, personal care and food, feed & nutrition, paints and coatings“, said Ir. Mohd Yusri Mohamed Yusof, CEO of Petronas Chemicals Group Berhad The transaction value is 2.300 mio Euro and is still subject to relevant regulatory and shareholders’ approvals.

7. HeidelbergCement into Enters Joint Venture with CBI to Produce Calcined Clay in Ghana

HeidelbergCement of Heidelberg, Germany, has signed an agreement to acquire 50% of the shares of CBI S.A. of Accra, Ghana. CBI controls the Ghanaian cement producer CBI Ghana. CBI and HeidelbergCement intend to built what they term „world’s largest flash calciner“ in Ghana, which is supposed to start in 2024 with a capacity of more than 400.000 tons of calcined clay per year. This plant, supplied by FLSmidth, Copenhagen, Denmark, will double the current cement capacity of CBI Ghana. The production of calcined clay emits significantly less CO2 compared with regular clinker production. “West Africa is traditionally a clinker and cement-importing region due to the lack of suitable limestone reserves. .... Calcined clay cements are the most sustainable alternative to traditional clinker-based cement.", CBI Ghana CEO Frédéric Albrecht said.

8. Joma Expands Storage Capacity for EPS Blocks

Insulation materials manufacturer Joma Dämmstoffwerk GmbH, Holzgünz, Germany, is currently building two new halls for storage and production at their production location at Holzgünz. The project with a value of 3.3 Mio Euro will expand the covered area by 6.200 sq.m.. The majority of this additional space will be used to store block elements of Expanded Poly Styrene (EPS) to gain flexiblity in terms of delivery and during raw material shortages. Also, a production of lightweight screed products is planned to be set up here. The photovoltaic system on all roofs makes Joma nearly self-sufficient in terms of power supply.
