Remembering Prof. Dr. Maria Alba Cincotto
We are very sad to hear that on 16. May 2022, Prof. Dr. Maria Alba Concotto has passed away. For more than 50 years she has dedicated herself to passing on her knowledge to generations of researchers at the University of São Paolo. She was the sole and most recognized leader of the development of modern construction materials for Brasil. With regards to the development of the Brazilian Standards for mortar, lime, cement and chemical and physical-chemical tests her contribution was invaluable for our industry. Prof. Dr. Maria Alba Cincotto was also always very supportive of drymix.info's events in Brasil (ladmmc), we will miss her friendship, advice and guidance. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family, friends and the scientific community.

1. Mexico City, 21. June 2022: the 4th Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting: Program

Our next meeting will take place live and in-person in Mexico City on 21. June 2022 – the 4th Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting and Industry Showcase. Holiday Inn Plaza Universidad has provided us with a large meeting room and will serve coffee, lunch, tea and cocktails in an open tent outside (great sponsoring opportunities, please enquire with Meliza & Carlos through us!). 2. Istanbul, 15. September 2022: Come Join Us for cedmmc7!

Our 7th Central and South European Drymix Mortar Conference and Industry Showcase cedmmc7 takes place again at splendid Çırağan Palace (Kempinski Hotel) in Istanbul on 15. September 2022.  We have already received a lot of exciting contributions and will publish our program in our next newsletter. Suppliers, distributors: not miss this opportunity to get in touch with the drymix mortar and cement industry experts from Central Europe, Asia Minor and beyond. Book a tabletop (gold sponsoring) at cedmmc7! As always, we will have a wonderful Dinner Cruise on the Bosphorus, sponsored so far by Kalekim and Calucem (looking for one or two more sponsors here, too).

3. The 7th Latin American Drymix Mortar Conference ladmmc7, São Paulo, Brasil, 20. October 2022

drymix.info is proud to present its next live, in-person event: The 7th Latin American Drymix Mortar Conference and Industry Showcase ladmmc7! Mario and Sylvia Kristeller have found a wonderful (new) location for us: Espaço Escandinavo, set in a lush park, just about 2 km west of Congonhas Airport. Apart from a very nice conference room, the premises allow us to roam in the open nature during the breaks - a welcome feature after such a long pause caused by the pandemic. For the catering, we also hope to secure vegetables from the urban gardener Hans-Dieter Temp of Cidades sem Fome, like back in 2019. Our Call for Papers is still running until 30. June 2022, our Technical Chairman Mario Kristeller will then decide upon which lectures are accepted for presenting. As always, we expect drymix mortar experts from throughout Brasil to attend and report at ladmmc7. I am sure we will be able to arrange for cocktails after our event, so we are looking for sponsors here, too.

4. Sika Opens New Factory in Bolivia

Sika of Baar, Switzerland, has extended its production capacities for mortar and concrete admixtures in Bolivia by moving to a new site in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (about 500 km east of La Paz, the nation's capital). The new plant features highly automated production processes for both product lines, it doubles Sika's existing capacities in Bolivia (details on volumes were not given). Sika expects an increase of the Bolivian construction market by 9.5% in 2022, mainly driven by infrastructure investments.

5. Holcim Sells India Cement Business to Adani Group

Holcim Ltd of Zug, Switzerland has recently agreed on a binding agreement to sell its cement business in India to Adani Group, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The deal includes Holcim's complete stakes in Ambuja Cements Ltd. (63,11%) which in turn owns 50,05% in ACC Ltd. plus Holcim's own 4,48% direct stake in ACC (formerly Associated Cement Companies Ltd.), both Mumbai, Maharashtra. The deal is still subject to the usual regulatory and anti-trust authorities' approval, the transaction value is 6.100 mio Euro.
