2. BASF Introduces Insulation Boards Containing Recycled Materials

In an effort to further push the reduction of CO2 emissions in construction materials (as in mass-balanced Styropor Ccycled), BASF SE of Ludwigshafen, Germany has recently introduced insulation boards containing 10% recycled material from mechanically recycled expanded polystyrene (EPS) waste (trade name Neopor F 5 MyCycled). The new material is suitable for numerous applications in buildings, particularly in facade insulation (EIFS) and reaches the same insulation values like boards made with new, virgin EPS beads. BASF has cooperated with BASF with Karl Bachl GmbH & Co KG, Röhrnbach, Germany to develop the new material.

3. Sika Takes over Sable Marco, Québec/Canada

Sika of Baar, Switzerland, takes over the Canadian manufacturer of mortar and cementitious products Sable Marco Inc of Pont Rouge, Québec, Canada. Sable Marco, founded in 1979, has an annual turnover of about 20 Mio Euro. The company is active in various fields (Eastern Canada and North-Eastern US) including aggregate mining and classification, agricultural soils as well as concrete and drymix mortars. A transaction value was not disclosed by either party.
