War in Ukraine, Editor's Statement

As a truly international community, drymix.info can not ignore the current political situation: drymix.info (and I am sure, all our members, too) condemns the killing of people for any reason. This applies not only to civilians, but for soldiers as well. Also, we know, that governments wage war for tactical reasons, not the people of the individual nations. drymix.info is very concerned that all its friends and their families in Ukraine, Belorus and Russia could be harmed and suffer losses. The current aggressive fighting in Ukraine must stop.

To continue business as usual might sound cynical in their ears but we must. drymix.info will always be at service to the drymix mortar industry globally.

1. 6th MORTAR CONVENTION, 22. to 25.2.22: already over 150 Delegates from all around the World

In two weeks we will welcome the drymix mortar community all around the globe for our 6th MORTAR CONVENTION (Live Event Online), on 22.3.22 (for Australia/New Zealand), on 23.3.22 (for Eastern Asia and South East Asia SEA), on 24.3.22 (for India, Middle East, Africa and Europe) and last but not least on March 25, 2022 for The Americas. The compact new format features scientific lectures, product presentations, company videos as well as live interviews and networking sessions (contest!). During four days a custom tailored program for the different regions of the world has been prepared.

It is fun getting all those videos in as we speak - and I can promise you we have a wonderful program. Interview guests have been lined up on all continents and are eager to talk to us. Our Industry Showcase is filling up since all our sponsors already have access to our platform. Completion of registration: all paid & registered delegates get their access data on15. March 2022, please be prepared to edit your delegate profile carefully, have a photo ready etc. You can then already browse through our platform and make contacts.

2. Call for Papers: Mexico (21. June 2022) and Istanbul (15. September 2022)

The Fourth Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting takes place at Holiday Inn Plaza Universidad, Mexico City on Tuesday, 21. June 2022. Our Call for Papers runs until 30. April 2022. Please propose your paper for presentation at our first in-person meeting in The Americas after such a long time. We expect drymix mortar experts from throughout Central America, The Caribbean and Northern South America for this traditional meeting. Meliza and Carlos are standing by in Mexico to assist you. FYI: Holiday Inn Plaza Universidad has provided us with the largest room and also has erected a large temporary structure outside in the parking lot. We will use this for lunch and our after hours cocktail (sponsors welcome). This way we can keep a certain distance and still enjoy our company in person finally.

We are really glad to announce that we have finalized the arrangements for our 7th Central and South European Drymix Mortar Conference and Industry Showcase cedmmc7 which will take place as in-person event again at splendid Mabeyn Ballroom at historic Çırağan Palace (Kempinski Hotel), Istanbul, Turkey. A comprehensive program of technical lectures (Call for Papers still running until 15. June 2022) awaits our delegates from throughout Southern Europe and Asia Minor. We have already found sponsors for our traditional cruise on the Bosphorus (Kalekim, Calucem have confirmed their support, we look for one or two more; Sponsors this is NICE!).

Admission to both the 4th Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting and the 7th Central and South European Drymix Mortar Conference is 390 Euro, reduced to 290 Euro for drymix.info partners. Drymix mortar manufacturers pay only 190 Euro. Pre registration by e-mail is already possible by e-mail. Our drymix.info CoVid-19 safety policy applies.

3. Emsland Group Joins drymix.info as Industrial Partner

Emsland Group (Emsland Stärke GmbH) of Emlichheim, Germany, has decided to join drymix.info as Industrial Partner. Founded in 1928 for the processing of starch from potatoes, Emsland today produces starches and derivatives thereof such as modified starches (starch ethers), proteins, fibers, potato flakes and granules for food and technical applications. For drymix mortars, renders and plasters, Emsland produces starch ethers also on a customized basis (tradename Emset).

4. Sievert Takes over Sakret CZ

Sievert SE, Osnabrück, Germany has recently taken over all shares of Sakret CZ k.s., Ledčice. Founded in 1998, Sakret CZ manufactures and distributes a full portfolio of drymix mortars to the industrial, wholesale and retail sector. The company employs 36 people. Sievert is already present in the Czech Republic with its plant in Brno. A transaction value was not disclosed by either party.

5. Premium Building Materials, Mongolia, Joins drymix.info

Premium Building Materials LLC of Ulaanbaatar Mongolia has joined drymix.info as Manufacturing Member. Premium BM was established in 2011 under the name of “Premium Concrete” as a fully domestic investment. The company operates several concrete batching plants in Mongolia and has already supplied 1,5 mio cubic meters of concrete to over 500 projects throughout the country. Premium BM is currently investigating entering the drymix mortar market, not only in Mongolia but all over Central Asia. we are particularly proud to have Premium Building Materials amongst us at such an early stage of their project.

6. Nippon Paint Buys CMI Malaysia

Nippon Paint Malaysia Sdn Bhd has recently acquired 100% of the shares of CMI Construction Material Industry Sdn Bhd (CMI) and an 85% stake in CMI Marketing Sdn Bhd. (CMIM). Both companies are located in Shah Alam, Selangor Darul Ehsan. CMI, founded in 1997 produces a full range of cementitious drymix mortars, including skim coats, renders, tile adhesives, waterproofing compounds and technical mortars (precision grouts). CMI operates a manufacturing plant in Gopeng, Perak, with a nameplate capacity of 20.000 t/a (single shift mode). Quoting Yaw Seng Heng, group managing director of Nippon Paint Malaysia, the acquisition puts Nippon Paint into the position of addressing  all “industry pain points such as hairline cracks, powdery finish, blistering, peeling paint, moulding, hollowness, falling tiles, water seepage and others“. A transaction value was not disclosed by either party.
