1. MEDMA Re-Launch Workshops on 23. January 2022 at One Central, Dubai

The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA (an Association licensed by Dubai Chamber) is inviting the relevant players of the drymix mortar industry in the UAE to join a brainstorming session for the re-launch of MEDMA. The meeting takes place on Sunday, 23. January 2022, from 14:00 to 18:00 at the new seat of MEDMA, at One Central (right next to Dubai World Trade Center DWTC, near Emirates Towers). There will be a casual dinner afterwards (location tbd.).

The MEDMA Re-Launch discussion will consist of two workshops (each from 14:00 to 16:30) followed by a tea break and a plenary session to present and exchange the ideas created in the workshops. One Workshop will discuss and establish ideas and expectations of manufacturers of drymix mortars in MEDMA (moderated by Leo). In a parallel workshop, MEDMA invites its partners in the raw material and equipment industries to discuss their support for the new MEDMA (moderator tbd.).

This exclusive event is free of charge, however by invitation only. Due to space and CoVid precautions, we can admit only one delegate per company, sorry. RSVP is absolutely mandatory. Interested parties can apply for participation at drymix.info.

2. 6th MORTAR CONVENTION, for ANZPAC, Asia, India and EMEA: 22. to 24. March 2022

    drymix.info is inviting the drymix mortar industry to submit topics to be presented during 6th MORTAR CONVENTION (6MC) from 22. to 24. March 2022. Book your Package now and reach half of the world! The Call for Papers as well as attractive sponsoring packages are available at drymix.info.

The 6th MORTAR CONVENTION will be held as Live Event Online, it will feature scientific lectures, product presentations, company videos as well as live interviews and networking sessions (contest!). During three days a custom tailored program for three different regions of the world will be presented (we hope for region-specific content!):
ANZPAC Day (6MC Tier one ): Tuesday 22. March 2022, 13:00 Sydney Time to 17:00 (from 03:00 Munich Time): Australia/New Zealand & Oceania
East Asia and SEA Day (6MC Tier two: Wednesday 23. March 2022, 13:00 Singapore Time to 17:00 (from 06:00 Munich Time): Japan, Korea, China and SEA
India and EMEA Day (6MC Tier three): Thursday, 24.3.2022, 13:00 UAE Time (Mumbai 13:30), to 17:00 UAE Time (from 09:00 Munich Time): India, Middle East, Africa and Europe

Registration of delegates has already started on www.drymix.info, admission (this is a three-day-pass!) to the 6th MORTAR CONVENTION is 120 Euro, reduced for drymix.info, SEADMA and MEDMA partners to 80 Euro. Drymix Mortar Manufacturers pay only 40 Euro (Attention sponsors: there are attractive invitation options available to invite your clients!).

3. Live (in-person) in Toronto on April 28, 2022: admmc7

The Seventh American Drymix Mortar Conference and Industry Showcase admmc7 takes place at historic King Edward (Omni) Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on April 28, 2022. Our Call for technical Papers ended last week and we thank our community for the strong support. Our Technical Chairman, Prof. Dr. Johann Plank, Technische Universität München (TUM) will review the submissions early in January 2022 - we will publish the program in this Newsletter after this process. We would like to host a Delegate Welcome Evening on April 27, 2022 on Lake Ontario's shores but we still need to find a sponsor or two for this (is there anybody out there? Hello ?-).

Admission to admmc7 is 475 Euro, reduced for drymix.info, SEADMA and MEDMA partners to 375 Euro. Drymix Mortar Manufacturers pay only 190 Euro. Of course you can pay in USD and Canadian Dollars, too, we accept Paypal or VISA or Mastercard. Please register through our website.

4. Saint Gobain Weber Acquires Grace Construction Products

Saint-Gobain (Weber), Paris, France has recently announced the acquisition of Grace Construction Products (Grace CP, a subsidiary of W.R. Grace Co., Columbia, Maryland, USA). The US based specialty chemicals company focusses on concrete admixtures and additives for all construction applications (mainly infrastructure and repair). In combination with the earlier acquisition of Chryso, (valued at close to 900 mio Euro) Saint Gobain's turnover in the construction chemicals market would be over 4.000 mio Euro. Saint Gobain expects to be able to realize synergies amounting to 80 mio Euro per year from 2023. The transaction value was 2,040 mio Euro (USD 2.300 mio) and is still subject to the usual regulatory approvals. The deal is expected to be completed by year-end 2022

5. Sika Opens New Mortar Plant in Eastern China

Sika AG of Baar, Switzerland has recently opened a new drymix mortar plant in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, Eastern China (about 50 km west of Shanghai). The Sika Management cites the increasing demand and an improved logistic situation which saves time and cost as reasons to build this plant in the densely populated areas around Shanghai. Sika has plants already Shanghai and Suzhou.
