3. PT Drymix Indonesia and Mortindo Join Forces in Triputra Group

PT Drymix Indonesia and PT Anugerah Mortar Abadi (“Mortindo”), both Jakarta, Indonesia have announced that they will join forces. Lemindo, the construction materials division in Rachmat family's Triputra group (a quite large Indonesian industrial holding) has recently acquired all shares of Drymix Indonesia, so it becomes a sister company of Mortindo. Both companies will combine their production facilities and service. They produce cementitious drymix mortars such as skim coats (“acian”), renders (“plester”), ALC block adhesives, waterproofing systems as well as tile adhesive & grouts. PT Drymix Indonesia is a long-standing member of both drymix.info and The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA, both companies are founding members of Promindo, the SEADMA Chapter in Indonesia. A transaction value was not given by either party.

4. Zoomlion Plans on Producing Drymix Mortars in the Future

Zhan Chunxin, Chairman of Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., Changsha, China, has recently announced that the company will re-structure its business and also start producing drymix mortars themselves in the future. Zoomlion is a machinery producer focussed on mobile equipment for construction and agriculture. Apart from other acquisitions in Europe, Zoomlion bought m-tec mathis technik GmbH, Neuenburg, Germany, a producer of jobsite machinery for the application of drymix mortars and turnkey drymix mortar plants. Speaking on an annual shareholder's meeting, Zhan Chunxin presented the future structure of Zoomlion, there will be the construction machinery division, the division for agricultural machinery (currently only 5% of Zoomlion's turnover) and the new drymix mortar („new materials) division (no entity has been formed yet to accommodate this activity).

Zoomlion's plan to eventually produce drymix mortars can be considered a forward integration. It remains to be seen, if their clients (there are over 9.000 independent drymix mortar producers in China) will tolerate Zoomlion in the market as producer and now competitor. Zoomlion's turnover in 2020 was 8.530 mio Euro, an increase of over 50% over 2019. In its public financial report, the new materials business did not separately disclose data.

5. Bachl to Build New Mineral-Wool Insulation Panels Plant

Karl Bachl GmbH & Co KG, Röhrnbach, Germany has started construction of a new insulation materials plant in Ronneburg, Thuringia, Central Germany. At their Ronneburg location, Bachl already operates an expanded polystyrene panels (EPS) plant since the nineties of the last century. Production of mineral wool panels is expected to start in early 2022, the investment will yield about 100 new jobs. The Bachl Group ventures into a new insulation media with this investment, the company already produces foams based on EPS, poly-urethane (PU) and extruded polystyrene (XPS) as well as perlites. Being focussed on thermal insulation, the Bachl Group expects to prosper from recent energy saving initiatives by legislators all across Europe. "The set climate protection targets can only be achieved if the building sector is also adequately insulated and thus CO2 is saved", said Managing Director Michael Küblbeck.

6. Sika Takes over Bexel, Mexico

Sika AG, Baar, Switzerland takes over Bexel Internacional S.A. de C.V., Monterrey, Mexico, a manufacturer of renders, tile adhesives and other specialty products. Bexel, founded in 1995 and active in almost all regions of Mexico, reported sales of 32,5 mio € in 2020. Bexel operates five drymix mortar plants all over nation (Monterrey, Durango, Guadalajara, Vilahermosa and Umán/Yucatán). Together with Sika's new production unit in the Mexico City Capital Region, this could be called a prefect match when it comes to production capacities. The sales focus of Bexel is mainly geared towards hardware stores and building materials dealers (over 2.000 sales points in all 29 provinces of Mexico). A transaction value was not disclosed, the deal is still subject to the usual regulatory approvals.
