1. The 6th India Drymix Mortar Conference, Mumbai, 9.May 2019: over 100 Delegates already!

The 6th India Drymix Mortar Conference and Industry Showcase on Thursday, 9. May 2019 at  ITC Maratha Hotel near Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport promises to become a full success! Registrations are vivid at this point in time – we will be over 100 delegates. As mentioned earlier. Dr. Vijay Immanuel Raman, assisted by Samir Surlaker and Dr. Bharangal Maheshvari of The Construction Chemical Manufacturer's Association of India (CCMAI) will address the assembly in a welcome note. Our Technical Chairman is Dr. Sumon Chakravarty, our program is available on our website. As a special gift, The Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2019 will be distributed free of charge to all registered and paid for delegates.

Admission to the 6th Indian Drymix Mortar Conference is 390 € per person, reduced to 290 € for drymix.info, MEDMA and/or SEADMA partners. Drymix mortar manufacturers pay only 150 € per person. There is a special admission for drymix mortar manufacturers that are also members of CCMAI (proof of membership required): 130 €. Please use our webshop on www.drymix.info and pay by credit card (Visa or Master Cards accepted).

Important notice: we can not accept credit card payments on the day of the conference itself, please pay in advance or prepare a cash payment (our office will assist).

2. South Africa: Kick Off Meeting for an Association of Drymix Mortar Manufacturers, 10.6.19, Johannesburg

By mutual request, drymix.info is taking the initiative to assist in the formation of a future (working title) Drymix Mortar Manufacturer's Association of South Africa. Drymix mortar experts, industry peers and major players of our industry have already vouched their support. drymix.info invites to a kick-off meeting on Monday, 10. June 2019, 17:00 to 20:00 at Sandton Convention Center (or at a hotel in the Sandton metropolitan area, exact location remains to be determined). It is this meetings intention to determine the functions, formulate a charter and a mode of operation of the new association as well as (if at all possible) to enlist ideas and resources to start the formation process.

Pre-registration by e-mail to drymix.info is absolutely mandatory. The meeting is free of charge for drymix mortar producers, up to two delegates will be admitted from each company (additional delegates pay 150 Euro or ZAR 2.400). Industry Observers are admitted, they pay 390 Euro (ZAR 6.300), reduced for members of drymix.info to 290 Euro (ZAR 4.700). Some sponsoring options exist, please enquire with us at info@drymix.info.

3. scalingUp3D, Wopfing and Vienna, Austria, 27. and 28. June 19: Program Update, Registration open

scalingUp3D - The Interdisciplinary Conference on Printable Mortars, takes place on  27. and 28. June 2019 in Austria. On Thursday, 27. June 19, there is a bus tour to Waldegg (participation limited to 60 delegates!) to the research center of Schmid Holding (Baumit, Wopfinger), we will have four practical sessions there, live 3D printing of mortars included! The plenary session with our 13 scientific lectures will take place the next day (Friday, 28. June 2019) at stylisch „Labstelle Wien“, in immediate proximity to the City Centre and Stephansdom. Here we will also have a practical demonstration by m-tec of their programmable interface mortar mixer along with additional testing setups (not confirmed yet). New in the program: Mr. Jakob Jorgensen will report about the functions of the Cobod multi-use scalable gantry printer in combination with 3D printable mortars.

Our Technical Cairmen are Dr. Scott Z. Jones, National Institute of Standards and Technology NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA and Prof. Dr. Dietmar Aloys Stephan, Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, moderator is Ferdinand Leopolder. Admissions (all prices include 20% Austrian VAT): Both days: 950 €, reduced to 750 € for members of drymix.info, only 550 € drymix mortar manufacturers (attention: limitation on day 1 is 60!). Day Two only (plenary sessions): 550 €, reduced to 420 € for members of drymix.info, only 280 € for drymix mortar manufacturers, 180 € for students and faculty (proof of immatriculation required). 4. SEADMA Second Vietnam Drymix Mortar Meeting, Hanoi, 23. July 2019

The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association invites to its Second Vietnam Drymix Mortar Meeting, taking place in Hanoi on Tuesday, 23. July 2019. The meeting will very likely be held at Daewoo Hotel Hanoi (exact info to follow). Similar to our meeting in Ho Chi Minh City, we expect drymix mortar manufacturers, raw material distributors as well as equipment and raw material suppliers to attend this meeting. Concerning lecturing, we are open for proposals, and of course sponsoring is extremly welcome. Please enquire with us about the details. Registration by e-mail is already possible.

6. Ardex and Wakol Acquire Nexus Adhesives in Australia

Ardex GmbH, Witten, Germany and its daughter company Wakol, Pirmasens have recently entered an agreement to acquire Nexus Adhesives, Melbourne, Australia. Nexus, founded in 2006, is a manufacturer of adhesives for floor coverings and also provides industrial adhesives to the markets in Australia and New Zealand. Nexus' focus is the professional flooring market. Nexus will continue to independently serve the markets down under, the former owners and managing directors Jonathon Clewlow and Brett Nixon will continue to lead Nexus. According to Mark Eslaamloy, CEO of Ardex, the company „... completes its product portfolio in the Australian and New Zealand markets“. A transaction value was not disclosed.

7. Tolsa Joins drymix.info as Industrial Partner

Tolsa SA, Madrid,Spain, has decided to (re-) join drymix.info as an Industrial Partner. Tolsa was founded in 1957 and produces specialized additives for the construction and drymix mortar industry. Tolsas main product groups include rheological additives based on sepiolite and attapulgite technologies (tradenames Pangel, Cimsil, Pansil, Smectagel) as well as spherical fillers.

8. Sika Starts Drymix Mortar Production in Senegal, Expands Mortar Capacities in Egypt

Sika AG of Baar, Switzerland has recently opened a drymix mortar plant in Senegal, West Africa. The new facility is located at Sika's existing plot in Dakar. The production of drymix mortars will initially focus on cementitious tile adhesives (CTA), grouts concrete repair systems as well as waterproofing compounds. Eventually, Sika also plans to produce thin flooring screeds in Dakar. Sika's Senegal subsidiary in Dakar was started two years ago and is rapidly growing. According to Sika sources, „...Senegal has one of the strongest growth rates in sub-Saharan Africa. Its economy grew by 7 % in the past year. Average growth of 6 % is forecast for the construction market over the next few years.“

At its Alexandria, Egypt location, Sika has recently expanded mortar production by investing into additional production lines. Details on the increased capacities were not given. Quoting Ivo Schädler, Sika's Regional Manager for EMEA: “... we are achieving above-average growth rates (in Africa). Over the last four years alone, we have increased sales on the African continent by more than 21 % per year...“.
