1. Second Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting, Mexico, 27.6.17: Cocktail Reception After Meeting

Great news for the delegates to the Second Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting (27. June 2017 at Holiday Inn Plaza Universidad, Mexico City): our members Crest, J. Rettenmaier & Söhne (JRS), Haver & Boecker and Kerneos have agreed to sponsor us drinks immediately after the meeting. Thanks a lot!

For the second time, mortar experts from throughout Central America and the Carribbean meet the international crowd to attend scientific lectures and intensive networking. Lectures are being held predominantly in Spanish, simultaneous translation is available both ways for all delegates. The program sequence will be published soon on our website and also sent to all registered delegates. The Drymix Mortar Yearbook 2017 will be presented to all delegates.

Registrations are running strong, we have already reached the same amount of experts than in 2015, and we have still almost one month to go! Admission to the Second Central American Drymix Mortar Meeting is 335 Euro (MXN 7.500), reduced admission for members of drymix.info is 275 Euro (MXN 6.000). Drymix mortar manufacturers pay only 180 Euro (MXN 4.000).

2. Second Quarterly MEDMA Round Table in Dubai on 23. July 2017

The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA e.V. invites its members and intersted observers to its second round table this year. Last time, in March, we had conducted a survey about this new format and we analyzed afterwards that we should put the Round Tables under a motto: Ferdinand Leopolder will lead the open table and proposes to talk about the progress and future strategy of the MEDMA Workgroup on Thermal Insulation (EIFS). He will invite the group members to prepare a short lecture for this meeting.

The Second MEDMA Round Table takes place at Courtyard by Marriott, Dubai Green Community on Sunday, 23. July 2017 from 13:30 to 15:30. will have a three course served meal prepared for all of us, contribution per person is AED 100 (AED 400 for non-members). Confirmation of attendance (pre-registration) is absolutely mandatory by e-mail to info@drymix.info. Please register early, so we can size the event.

3. Founding Meeting of MDMMA: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 26. July 2017

The core team for the formation of Malaysia Drymix Mortar Manufacturer's Association MDMMA (Pertubuhan Pengilang Mortar Pra-Bancuh Malaysia, MDMMA) has completed the constitution of the association and announced the date for the Formation Ceremony and meeting recently: The event will take place on 26. July in Kuala Lumpur, the exact location will be mentioned in our next Newsletter. 8 companies have already confirmed their support by signing the support form and pledging the amount of MYR 3.000 for the founding budget. SEADMA and MDMMA warmly invite raw material suppliers to sponsor this event and thus support MDMMA in its formation phase.

The event is free of charge for MDMMA members, other drymix mortar manufacturers pay only 80 Euro, observers from the industry pay 500 Euro, reduced to 350 Euro for drymix.info or SEADMA members.

4. Crest Joins drymix.info as Member

Crest Norte América SA de CV whichis part of Lamosa Group, Ciudad de México, has decided to join drymix.info, The International Community for Drymix Mortars as a member. Founded in 1957, Crest has evolved to become a very important manufacturer of tile adhesives and grouts. Crest is entirely focused on tile laying products, the company is a pioneer in specialty cementitious tile adhesives (CTA)and also in application training and customer care. The group is active in México as well as in the U.S. and Central América.

5. Henkel Launches its Tiling Line in Colombia

Henkel Colombiana S.A.S, Bogotá, Colombia has recently announced to launch the first of a series of tiling products (tradename Ceresit). The Ceresit line comprises of specialty cementitious tile adhesives (CTA) and grouts, waterproofing materials, flooring products as well as auxiliary materials for the installer.

According to Henkel, the focus of its building materials business lays on emerging and new markets. Thus the company acquired the tiling business of Alfagrés in Colombia in summer of 2016. Henkel has also opened 3 new drymix mortar plants in Eastern Europe over the past two years (in Georgia and Russia).

6. The German Associations for Mortars and EIFS Merge, Form VDPM

Industrieverband Werk-Mörtel e.V (IWM, German Mortar Association, Duisburg) and the Fachverband Wärmedämm Verbundsysteme (FV WDVS, German EIFS Association, Baden-Baden) have decided to join forces and merge. In separate reunions in Bad Brückenau, the members of both associations gave the merger overwhelming support. The new association is named "Verband für Dämmsysteme, Putz und Mörtel e.V." (VDPM) and will eventually be located in Berlin. After the new association has been officially registered, the members will be asked to vote for the Board (12 positions). The executive team of VDPM will be led by Dr. Hans-Joachim Riechers, Ralf Pasker will be esponsible for EIFS and Europe and Antje Hannig will be responsible for mortar technology.

7. Chemcom Takes over Plastyn Activities of Desmepol

Desmepol, bv, of Farmsun, The Netherlands has recently announced that it sold its Plastyn business to Chemcom bv, Delfzijl, The Netherlands. Plastyn is a liquid and powder range of melamine-formaldehyde-sulfonate based superplasticizers for the use in concrete as well as in cementitious and gypsum-based mortars. Desmepol and Chemcom had cooperated since a long time in the production and marketing of those superplasticizers. Chemcom has also integrated the sales team of Desmepol.

8. Stephane de l'Estrange Passed away

Stephane de l'Estrange, who led and built Parex Thailand during the last 23 years has suddenly passed away last week. drymix.info is offering its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and staff at ParexGroup Thailand. His death is a grave loss for the drymix mortar industry in South East Asia - we will miss his permanent initiatives and actions towards high quality drymix mortar systems in the entire region.

9. Bostik Buys CGM’s Floor Preparation Systems (CMP Specialty Products)

Bostik, a subsidiary of Arkema, La Défense, France has announced the acquisition CMP Specialty Products, Bensalem, PA, USA, which in turn is the the flooring and floor preparation business of CGM Building Products, also located in Bensalem. CMP produces and markets flooring surface preparation repair patches, leveling compounds and primers for both commercial and residential flooring applications. This business  generated a turnover of 13,4 mio Euro (U$15 mio) in 2016. The transaction value was not disclosed by either party.
