1. admmc five Philadelphia, PA, May 3, 2016: Delegate Welcome on Monday Evening (May 2, 2016)

The Fifth American Drymix Mortar Conference admmc five will take place at DoubleTree Hotel Philadelphia Center City, 237 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19107. Since many of our overseas delegates, as well as the US out-of-staters arrive already on Monday, we decided to have a welcome drink and early check-in at DoubleTree Philadelphia Center City on Monday, May 2, 2016, 7 pm to 8.30 pm. The Delegate Welcome will take place in room Aria B on the thrid floor. This is an improvised welcome event, so the thanks go out to all our sponsors.

Admission for admmc five is 420 €, reduced for drymix.info members to 365 €. The specially reduced admission for drymix mortar manufacturers is only 255 €. Online registration is available through our drymix.info shop (Visa or Mastercard required, please make sure your card is enabled for purchases in Europe, which is where our shop is).

2. The First Saudi Workshop on EIFS, 30. May 2016 in Riyadh: also Open for Industry Observers

The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA is inviting Government officials, consultants, developers and the energy generation industry for a demonstration workshop on EIFS. The event takes place on 30. May 2016, from 08:00 until 11:30 at the largest site for thermal insulation (EIFS) throughout the Middle East: at Al Waseel Villas, a project developed by Sabic. DMC-Mix, Tecon and Wacker are the main sponsors.

This event was initially planned as an exclusive, by-invitation-only workshop. However, sevaral members of MEDMA have requested to be present and the project team has decided to admit them, too. Admission for MEDMA members is 400 Euro, for non-members 600 Euro. Registration deadline is 19. May 2016.

3. Argentina Drymix Mortar Meeting: 30. June 2016, Buenos Aires: Registration Starts

The Argentina Drymix Mortar Meeting takes place at 30. June 2016 at Sheraton Libertador Hotel, Buenos Aires. Drymix mortar experts from throughout South America are invited to join the first drymix.info meeting in Buenos Aires. The lectures will be held in Spanish. This event is specifically geared towards drymix mortar experts from Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay and of course Argentina, the second largest market for drymix mortars in South America. Sponsors of this event so far are Actemium, Allgaier, Cimental, Dow Construction Chemicals, Dow Corning, Evonik, Kerneos, Münzing (Nova Productos Quimicos), Lotte Fine Chemical and Wacker. Additional sponsoring support is of course appreciated.

Online registration of delegates has started on drymix.info. Admission for this event is 350 € per person for Industry observers, reduced to 290 € per person for drymix.info members. Drymix mortar manufacturers pay only 190 €. Online registration is already possible at www.drymix.info (Visa or Mastercard required).

4. Bostik opens New Plant on Mindanao, The Philippines

Bostik, part of Arkema (both Colombes, France), has expanded its production capacity for cementitious drymix mortars in the Philippines by starting up a new plant in Misamis Oriental province in the North of the large Mindanao Island. The new plant will also satisfy demand from the Visayas region consisting of several major islands to the North of Mindanao. Bostik has been producing mortars and adhesives in the Philippines since 2005.

5. Lotte Takes over Samsung Fine Chemicals

Lotte Group of Seoul, Korea has recently taken over the fine chemicals business of Samsung (Seoul, Korea). The transaction value was given at 2.400 mio Euro (US$ 2.600 mio), the division has been re-named to Lotte Fine Chemical. Amongst other products, Lotte Fine Chemical offers cellulose ethers and other additives for the drymix mortar industry.

6. BASF Expands Podolsk Plant for Construction Chemicals

BASF SE of Ludwigshafen, Germany has expanded its production site in Bolshoe Tolbino, Podolsk District, (just south of Moscow), Russia. The plant belongs to the construction chemicals division of BASF ("Master Builders Solutions") and will produce waterproofing materials as well as othe construction chemicals which can withstand the harsh climate conditions in Russia. Apart from the Bolshoe Tolbino location, BASF is also producing construction chemicals in Kazan (400 km due East of Moscow on the Wolga River) and is planning to construct a third plant in Russia in 2017.

7. Kuraray Completes PVA Facility in Texas

Kuraray Co., Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan with its local US subsidiary Kuraray America, Inc. (located in Houston, Texas) has completed construction of its new polyvinyl alcohol (PVA, Kuraray Tradename Elvanol) plant in Bayport (Harris County), Texas. The plant provides Kuraray with access to shale gas and other less expensive raw materials and fuels. Kuraray also plans to produce specialty PVA compounds such as ethylene copolymers (Tradename Exceval) at the new location. The new plant has a capacity of 40.000 t/a in Phase I, capital expenditure was 365 mio Euro (US$ 400 mio). Kuraray entered the US market in 2014, when it purchased the vinyl-acetate related business from DuPont (this plant is located in nearby La Porte, Texas). The company operates PVA capacities also in Japan (2 plants in Okayama and Nilgata), Singapore and Frankfurt, Germany.
