1. Post Event Report: 8th India Drymix Mortar Conference, Mumbai, 29MAY25

Despite early monsoon season, over 100 drymix mortar experts attended the 8th India Drymix Mortar Conference at the Orchid Hotel Vile Parle in Mumbai on 29. May 2025. Our comprehensive program featured 17 Lectures and important contributions from various Industry experts coming from all over the Indian Subcontinent and beyond.

2a. 바로 다음주에 개최됩니다! 동아시아 드라이믹스 모르타르 회의, 서울, 2025년 7월 3일

동아시아 드라이믹스 모르타르 회의는 2025년 7월 3일 대한민국 서울 이태원의 Mondrian 호텔에서 개최될 예정입니다. 한국건설기술연구원(KICT)의 송태협 박사가 이번 행사의 기술 위원장을 맡고 있습니다. 모든 참가자를 위해 현장에서 한국어-영어-한국어 전문 동시통역 서비스가 제공될 예정입니다. 개회사는 한국기술사회 (KPEA) 회장인 장덕배님께서 해주실 예정입니다. 현재까지 중국, 대만, 일본, 한국에서 120명 이상의 참가자가 예상되며, 많은 국제 방문객들도 참석할 예정입니다.

대한민국에서 처음 개최되는 이번 행사는 악테미움(Actemium), DK파인케미칼(DK Fine Chemicals -회의 후 만찬 및 칵테일 초대도 후원해주셔서 감사합니다!), 한일 시멘트(Hanil Cement), 하버앤보커(Haver & Boecker), 이메리스(Imerys), 한국 건설기술 연구원(Korea Institute of Construction Technology, 기술위원장 송태협 박사님), 말레키(Maleki), 뮌징(Münzing), Poraver, 삼표 산업(Sampyo Industry), 그리고 바커 케미칼 (Wacker Chemie)의 후원으로 진행됩니다.

2b. Already Next Week: East Asia Drymix Mortar Meeting, Seoul, 3. July 2025

The East Asia Drymix Mortar Meeting will take place on 03. July 2025 at Hotel Mondrian, Itaewon, Seoul, South Korea. Dr. Tae-Hyob Song of Korea Institute for Construction Technology (KICT) is the Technical Chairman of this event. For all delegates, there will be competent simultaneous translation Korean - English - Korean available on-site. The opening Address will be given by the honorable Jang Deok-bae, President of the Korean Professional Engineers Association KPEA. As of today, we expect over 120 delegates from China, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea - plus many international visitors.

Support for our first meeting in South Korea comes from: Actemium, DK Fine Chemicals, Hanil Cement, Haver & Boecker, Imerys, Korea Institute of Construction Technology KICT, Maleki, Münzing, Poraver, Sampyo Industry, Timab Magnesium and Wacker Chemie.

Check-in starts at 09:00 at Mondrian Hotel, Grand Ballroom on third level, the meeting itself at 10:00. A dinner reception (mandatory: RSVP please), sponsored by DK Finechem, will be held immediately adjacent to the lecturing program.

Delegate Admission to the East Asia Drymix Mortar Meeting is KRW 825.000 (550 Euro) per person, reduced to KRW 675.000 (450 Euro) p.p. for drymix.info, SEADMA and MEDMA members. Drymix mortar manufacturers pay only KRW 285.000 (190 Euro) p.p.

The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA invites to Drymix Mortar in the Middle East 2025 - 18th International MEDMA Conference at Sharjah Expo on 22. October 2025. Some lecturing slots are still available, the Call for Papers ends on 30. June 2025.

4. Crismachem Joins drymix.info as Distributor Partner

Crismachem S.L. of Madrid, Spain has recently joined drymix.info as Distributor Partner. Crismachem, founded in 2019, caters to the Southern European, Latin American, Africa and Middle East markets for drymix mortars, adhesives and coatings.

We warmly welcome Crismachem to our community.

5. Blackburn Chemicals Opens New Production Site for Powder Additives

Blackburn Chemicals, Limited, of Blackburn, Lancashire, has recently inaugurated and started up its production of powder defoamers on a new lot opposite to their factory in Blackburn („Site 3“). The ceremony was conducted by The Secretary of State for Business and Trade, The Right Honorable Jonathan Reynolds (Member of Parliament). The new plant and logistics center features two mixing lines as well as a complete packaging line with palettizer and stretch-hood option. The building also includes a research laboratory intended for custom tailored developments for individual clients. According to Managing Director John Covill, the GBP 14 mio (16 mio Euro) investment is the largest single investment since the establishment of Blackburn Chemicals in 1972. It will bring up the company's production capacity for powder products from 2.000 tons to 7.000 tons per year.

6. MC Bauchemie with New Production in Switzerland

MC-Bauchemie Müller GmbH & Co. KG, Bottrop, Germany recently inaugurated its new construction chemicals plant in Dintikon (West fo Zürich, Canton Aargau). Nicolaus Müller, MC-Bauchemie Bottrop, and Timur Rönnert, Managing Director of MC-Bauchemie Switzerland, cut the ribbon in the presence of over 50 invited guests. The new production location is focussed on manufacturing concrete admixtures, the production capacity at Dintikon was not disclosed,

7. AkzoNobel Closes Plants in Belgium and The Netherlands

AkzoNobel N.V. of Amsterdam, The Netherlands has announced its intention to close the manufacturing sites in Wapenveld (the Netherlands) and Machelen (Belgium) and to consolidate production at other locations in the region. Both plants are part of AkzoNobels Decorative Coatings division and employ a total of 276 people. Production apparently shall be moved to Spain, Poland and Estonia. The company gives cost-reduction and the reduction in production complexity and logistics as main reason for the step. Akzo Nobel also expects economies of scale to bundle production processes at other locations („anchor sites“). An exact date when the plants will be shut down was not given yet. AkzoNobel has informed all staff at the two plants and is currently negotiating a phase-out plan with local employee representatives (work councils and unions).

8. Heidelberg Materials Acquired Concrete Crushers, Canada

Heidelberg Materials AG of Heidelberg, Germany, has recently acquired the assets of Concrete Crushers Inc. (CCI), the largest concrete recycling company in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. CCI operates a recycled aggregates yard in Southeast Calgary and a contract crushing business with four mobile plants. According to Chris Ward, member of the Managing Board of Heidelberg Materials and CEO of Heidelberg Materials North America, the recent acquisition of CCI is in line with several other acquisitions in Northern America (we reported earlier) and is „...part of our ongoing portfolio optimization, we are further advancing our focus on sustainable and circular products”. The cost of the transaction was not disclosed by either party.

9. Sika Starts up Plant in Southern Morocco

Sika AG of Baar Switzerland has recently opened up a plant near Agadir, Southern Morocco. The new production location is set up to economically produce drymix mortars and concrete admixtures (wet process). Being situated South of the Altas mountain range, apart from Southern Morocco, products from the new plant can also be delivered to West Sahara and Mauretania.
