Editor's Remark: I will be on a big tour through many Nations during the next few weeks: I have been invited to contribute to events globally, that deserve our reader's attention: the Supplier Summit of the Indian Construction Chemical Manufacturer's Association CCMAI in Mumbai next Monday, the Industrial Packaging Summit in Ipoh, Malaysia on 18. June 2025 and I have the honor to moderate a discussion at EMO's European Mortar Summit in Düsseldorf on 26/27 June 2025.

Therefore: response by me may become slower during the next month, but networking in person will flourish! A warm thanks goes out to CCCMAI, EMO and the organizers of the Industrial Packaging Summit for their trust and the chance for me to network at their wonderful events.

Registrations are runing strong for our 8th India Drymix Mortar Conference. It takes place again at conveniently located Orchid Hotel Vile Parle on Thursday, 29. May 2025. Drymix mortar experts from all over the Indian Subcontinent and beyond have registered. Our Technical Chairman, Dr. Sumon Chakaravarty and Philippe Russo (Head organizer and Moderator) have put together a comprehensive program we reported earlier). 3. Call for Papers Open for SEADMA Kuala Lumpur, MEDMA Sharjah and São Paulo

3.1. Pertubuhan Pengilan Mortar Pra-Bancuh Malaysia | Malaysia Drymix Mortar Manufacturer's Association (PPM) and The South East Asia Drymix Mortar Association SEADMA invite jointly to the Malaysia Drymix Mortar Meeting - 18th International SEADMA Conference, taking place at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya (KL), Malaysia on 16. October 2025. We have already received a lot of proposals but some lecturing slots are still available. The Call for Papers ends on 31MAY25.
3.2.  The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA in cooperation with Middle East Coatings Show invites to Drymix Mortars in the Middle East 2025 -  18th International MEDMA Conference at Sharjah Expo on 22. October 2025. Some lecturing slots are still available, the Call for Papers ends on 30JUN25.
3.3. drymix.info along with our Technical Chairman in Brasil, Mario Kiristeller are inviting drymix mortar experts from all over South America to the 8th Latin American Drymix Mortar Conference ladmmc8 at Espaço Escandinavo in São Paulo, Brasil on 13. November 2025. The Call for Papers ends on 31MAY25.

4. Drymix Mortar Expert's Meeting Calendar: A View into 2026

Here we want to inform you about upcoming meetings and conferences worldwide, so all interested in joining in any which way can make early preparations and decisions for support. Call for Papers are already available for all listed events. As with all drymix.info events, our Technical Chairmen have similar acceptance criteria, first of all, your proposed topic must with us before the respective deadline, the earlier, the better, and then: non-commercial, technical lectures will be prioritized. 5. Dow Considers Closure of Some East German Production Sites

Dow Chemicals, Wilmington, Delaware, USA has recently announced, that it is investigating the closing of energy-intensive production sites in Eastern Germany. Under scrutiny are two energy-intensive plants in Schkopau and Böhlen, Saxony. The most likely scenarios include either a temporary shutdown or a permanent closure of those facilities. Dow attributes the reason for this investigation to market overcapacities, rising import pressure, bureaucratic burdens, and elevated energy, raw material and CO₂ costs. Dow's European site review is to be concluded by mid-2025. A final decision is already expected within 2025. No information was provided regarding the number of employees affected.

6. Wacker Chemie Increases Prices for Redispersible Powders in Europe and the US

Wacker Chemie AG, Munich, Germany has recently announce it will raise its prices for dispersions and redispersible powders (tradename Vinnapas), manufactured at their production sites in European and the USA by 5%. The company attributes the necessity of this price increase to the rising costs for raw materials and logistics. The price increase is said to become effective as of 01MAY25 or when running contracts allow.

7. Sika Opens New Plant in Kasachstan

Sika AG of Baar, Switzerland has recently opened a new manufacturing location in Ust-Kamenogorsk (Öskemen), Eastern Kasachstan. The new site - the fourth of Sika in Kasachstan - includes plants for drymix mortars, concrete admixtures and a laboratory complex. Kasachstan is known for its abundant raw material deposits, so mining plays a vital role in the Eastern region, along with the chemicals, energy and automotive industries.
