JCR, established in 1959, produces synthetic resin emulsions for a wide range of applications such as adhesives, cosmetics, coatings, textiles, paper, civil engineering and construction materials.
6. Hasit Re-Opens Drymix Mortar Plant in Worms, Germany
Hasit Trockenmörtel GmbH, Freising, Germany, started production at its Worms site on 1. January 2026. The plant of partner Interbran was modernized (we reported earlier) and mainly manufactures high-performance mineral insulation plasters for building renovation. In addition, the new location will serve as a logistics and distribution center for supplying the region with building materials from Hasit and Fixit Group. According to Hasit, the Worms location will also pool mineral insulation plasters knowhow for Europe.
7. Wacker Chemie Increases Prices for Polymers
Wacker Chemie AG, Munich, Germany will raise the prices for its polymers product range (dispersions, resins and redispersible powders), effective 2. April 2026. According to the company „…(the) military conflict in the Middle East has led to (...) disruption in global supply chains, resulting in significantly increased costs for raw materials and logistics.“ The increase will apply primarily to products coming from Wacker’s plants located in Europe and Asia, the exact factor was not yet published.
8. Heidelberg Materials Closes Cement Plant in Paderborn, Scales down Clinker Production in Sweden
Heidelberg Materials AG, Heidelberg, Germany, permanently shuts down its cement plant in Paderborn. The Paderborn plant operates the smallest rotary kiln of the Group and had been used to develop specialty low CO2 clinkers. The closure affects only the cement plant, Heidelberg Material's Paderborn quarry and the operation of the local concrete plant will remain unchanged.
Also, Heidelberg Materials Sweden recently announced to stop clinker production at its Skövde site and only will produce cement there from 2027 onwards. The company will obtain most of its clinker demand for Sweden at its larger cement plant in Slite on the island of Gotland. Cement production in Skövde would primarily be based on clinker sourced from Slite, supplying customers in south-western Sweden. Heidelberg Materials is the only cement producer in Sweden.
Both decisions follow the significant decline in cement sales due to the economic downturn and declining demand for construction in Germany and Sweden, as well as ongoing optimizations of the production network in Europe.
