Subject: Question of May 03: drymix mortars with powdered Silicates?
Silcates are known to effectively reduce the setting time of hydraulic binders such as cement (accelerator). In shotcrete (spray applied concrete) they accelerate the stiffening process and retard the overall strength development.
Since Silicates are inorganic binders by themselves, the question of the month to all members is:

Is it possible to formulate a drymix mortar (any application) with silicate powder as the main binder?

Subject: silicates as main binders
we are loooking for a possibility to formulate a drymix with only additives, fillers and SILICATES. The solution, we don't know - it is even possible it doesn't exist.

Of course,SILICATE can be a binder to use in the drymix. But the common cement binder is always cheaper than the SILICATE powder. So as Dr.dradler suggested,it can be produced to paints grouts in some situation needed. As I know, there are already products used in it in china.
