Subject: Ready to use tile grouts
Hi everybody,

Seeking opinions from experts here again,
has everyone seen such application before - ready to use tile grout (in paste form)?

Basically, it can have the advantage of
1. Consistency mixed to manufacturer specification, rather than on-site workability
2. Re-sealable and reusable, just close the lid tight.

But potential problems,
1. Latex % - Too little, can't bind. Too high, will be difficult to clean off from tiles.
2. Poor colour dispersion due to different absorption of tiles?

Glad to from you guys ;)

dear Rokie
such ready to use jointfillers are since many years (>30) in use for gypsum based panels but for ceramic tiles you will have a poor
abrasion resistance and compressive strength and also a reduced water resistance. At least after water absorption, the grout will loose its adhesion and get soft. Of course you can partly overcome such problems by using special dispersions, which are in use for water resistent tile adhesives.

The cleaning should not be a great problem, there are beside silicone based sealants (mastics) also products based on dispersions(Emulsions) available. Also you will have no problems with the colour.
regards
Klaus
